Stupid things you used to believe as a kid

i remember when i watched aliens for the 1st time (7 or 8 years old) i had to completely wrap the duvet over my head and tuck it under my feet.

i was in firm belief that this duvet would protect me from these killing machines!

My dad's birthday is on the 11th November. When I asked what all the celebrations/remembrance parades were for, he told me it was for his birthday. I genuinely believed it until I was about 8 years old when I suddenly twigged.

I also believed I beat my dad at chess (he's was a county champion when he was younger) at my first attempt when I was 7 years old. I twigged a few years later when I was midway through telling the story to other family members.

I used to think that if you left a plug socket switched on with no plug in it that the electricity would leak out onto the floor.

From the great Jason Manford

You know when the icecream van goes past with its music going it means theres no ice cream left

"Look dad look at all them dumb kids, they don't know what me and you know ha"

"Anyway off to college"

:(

My friends kept their daughter going for ages with the story that the ice cream van's music was an ambulance siren.

My parents used to let me watch football on TV. However at half time they told me the game was over and it was time to go to bed. So off I went grateful for them letting me watch the football.

Always wondered why the score was different on the news the next morning.

I like these two :)

:D Thats a good one to be got with.

I had the whole "got your nose" thing for a while, till one day I decided to feel where it should be, found it still there and the magic was killed for me :(

Come the 1st November, I'd always rush outside to check if a Pentagram had been etched outside the front door.

Dad use to tell me that the Witches on Halloween would etch a Pentagram outside good childrens houses as a beacon for Santa to deliver presents on Christmas Eve. He'd draw this with, I think, plumbers chalk (kinda a yellow oily thing) that would take literally months to go away, even through the cold rainy and snowy winters.

i was brought up with a lot of MJ in my ears but till about age of 8 i always thought MJ was a women haha

o and when mother use to say police man is coming to fetch me and take me away for being a naughty boy :(

A friend son believed that all those people on the music channels must get really tired staying up late so that they could play a song on the tv for everyone :)

When I was little I used to think that the gearstick drove the car (ala a joystick) although I never put any thought in to what the Steering wheel did.

I used to think that mixing yellow and green paint made green paint.

You really think some silly things when you're a little a kid!
