The last photos is ok, but it does require some cropping. If you've been on safari, you'll see a lot of photos like this. Getting a decent angle is hard though, as you do run the risk of the subject eating you, or at least giving you a jolly good mauling.
I don't think the lion needs cropping - I think the large blurred pinhole vignette works really well, the empty space gives the lion his 'kingdom'. It's a good shot, with fantastic PP that suits the image
I'm with uv here. Even though conventional wisdom tells you that the picture "must be dull because the subject is in the middle", I think if you crop the image you lose too much of the empty space and it makes the picture somehow less powerful.
