I doubt they will just by said comment, perhaps make the suggestion properly since it is quite a good one at that.

For now the order is still in security validation, but 20 euros more have been taken, i'll check when the transaction is approved

If ordering from outside the UK (which I'll assume you are) you are charged at a different VAT rate than the UK rate.

This has never been satisfactorily explained to me why though. Competitors don't do this.

personally, I see it quite simply...

OCUK is a British company, based in Britain, and thus uses British currency.

We don't use funny euro money here, and therefore displaying the prices in euro's is entirely pointless.

I believe it's to do with the volume of commerce OcUK has with Ireland.

Ultimately the extra few percent doesn't make a massive difference to the final price, about €6 for every €100 spent.

@ op, as said just use an up to date currency converter. Other sites that I have seen giving both euro and sterling prices tend to screw us euro payers (I'm looking at you remote control button shop). Also, I'm not inferring that OcUK would employ such practices but it seems to me that some sites use the different currencies as an excuse to lump in an added charge in the hopes that it would go unnoticed.

There would be no harm in displaying the price in Euros, while still continuing to base that on an estimate from daily currency rates, and charging in Sterling. It would make shopping easier for Irish people, as well as others in the Eurozone. After all the more OcUK sells the more buying power it has and the more chocie we have at better prices.

According to what I heard on the radio last week, if a UK company sells over €35k/year worth of product into Ireland, then they have to pay VAT at Irish rates.

Ahh that'd explain it. Sounds like our government did a sneaky deal with the UK Government. Makes sense in a way, the difference between the two Rates is quite significant.
