Stupid things you used to believe as a kid

I used to think if I put too much salt on my food, using pepper would cancel it out, and vice versa, needless to say, I once ended up with a very disgustingly seasoned meal >.<

My dad convinced me that there was an orchestra of tiny people inside our hifi system and that the music they had to play was on the tape/cd. I would spend ages looking in the vents but all I could see was the components. On asking my dad, he would proceed to point inside and say "there, can't you see them, just behind that green chip".

Cue me staring inside for another 10mins.

That if I focused really hard and I really wanted it badly I would be able to fly like Superman.

I also used to think I could move the clouds with my mind, as well as other parts of the sky and weather.

That was the beginning of my psychosis.

;) :p

I used to think that too sometimes!

Also I could never believe that anyone would be deliberately nasty to anyone :(

I thought my dad could scuba dive because the desktop of the computer (win 95 I think) was a picture of someone diving in a coral reef and they looked a bit like him.

That diggers being transported on the back of lorrys were there because they'd been naughty.

My dad used to play a trick on both me and my sister when we ate at mcdonalds as a "treat". We would always have milkshake so my dad would kindly go and get the straws and put them in everyone's drinks for them, pushing the milkshake straws right to the bottom of the cup forcing you to try and suck in flat cardboard. :(

Then he would say "O you two arn't old enough Ill have to start them off for you" proceeding to pull the straws up and slurp 1/4 of the milkshake out of each of our cups.

I still feel robbed to this day.

Also very good :D

I used to believe that there were only a few real people in the world, and everyone else was fake. That my immediate family were real, and maybe one or two of my schoolmates, but that the rest of the world was made up. I don't really know by who or what and for what purpose. I don't believe that now.

Two things really stuck out though. The first was when my R.E. teacher was talking about a philosopher saying "I'm a brain in a plastic dome". In other words we have no real way of telling if all this is real.

The second was watching the Matrix. Again that showed we have no real way of knowing it's real.

I think that many people probably have thought the same thing - perhaps some people still do. And that is why the Matrix was so popular.

my dad said if i went to town with any sort of money without adult supervision, i'd get arrested

I used to think Islands were called Islands because they floated on top of the water and that continents were stuck to the ground.

I always used to wonder why the government didn't float Great Britain to somewhere warmer in the summer and up to snow in the winter.
