So, bumpgate, check, Nvidia out of chipsets, check, massive massive delay after delay on the GT200 mid/low end, check, discontinuation of 285/275, check, EOL the 260GTX, Charlie said not for a month or so..... we'll see.
Horribly inaccurate that guy, horribly, infact pff, I see no reason for anyone to take him seriously.
I've said in other threads, he has a way about writing I can fully understand irks people, so? You can over get useful info from the Iraqi press minister, if you listen carefully, let alone someone giving you almost every story with cold hard numbers backing up his thinking and logic.
What fanboys really should realise, is the only people who blindly think Charlie is wrong, are those who can't understand the numbers he's trying to relay...... yes, basically, smart people can understand his numbers/analysis and think he's right. Not so smart people, don't get it, call him biased wrong and Nvidia hating, while all true, they still can't read the numbers that add up to him being correct.
His two most recent stories on Nvidia, I do admit, the first, was horribly long winded and could have been far better writen, the one on the cards EOL'ing hours later, is far far more consisely laid out and far better "writing", but no less/more accurate info.
Fact is too many people think press releases being published = journalism, he's one of the only journalists around.
I had ago over at the english [H] the other day on their stock story on the 5850, they got the launch date wrong(they assumed it was the same as the 5870), then they claimed poor availability because most were on pre-orders. As I suggested, a 5 min call to all the main guys, like OCUK, or even asking fatboy in his thread how many 5850's were sold could have got them hard numbers. Pre-order, means nothing, they could have sold millions on pre-order every day and still never "shown" as having stock. Its just lazy "reporting".
You do have to wonder how much longer the Nvidia only exclusive guys can hold out. XFX and several others turned ages ago because the GT200 series was a flop in terms of profit to them, even bigger flop now that they can't even sell them. Can you really see EVGA basing their entire next 2-4 months, solely, on more expensive slower parts in the £30-80 range, that they've never targeted before?
Think we'll be seeing EVGA making 5870's in no time flat, most of these guys were exclusive to get better prices on parts from Nvidia, IE promise to stay with them, get £5 per core or whatever. That deal seems rather hollow, when the cores aren't shipping at all
