Hi Guys,
Looking for some help. Basically my girlfriend has a 97 Ka with 80k which has failed its MOT, needs massive work doing around 1K! She needs a new car asap for uni etc. I suggested scrappage deal & finance but she cant go that route as no MOT and finance is silly expensive.
So she has got around 2K to spend on a car plus poss a couple of hundred quid if she can flog the KA.
I suggested Fiestas and Polos, but being a girl she is hard to please, and she cant get her head around the fact the car doesn't necessarily has to have low miles to be reliable.
So my question is this, is there a "stylish" car with low mileage, which is reliable. Haha worst question ever. Just looking for a few suggestions

Cheers
Chris
Ps sorry thats so long winded

Inner sills/outer sills corroded, Exhaust, anti roll bars, welding chassis, lights repositioning, arm & ball joint, front arm suspension bush deteriorated. Wheel alignment

Sorry this is the list she has gave me and i havent had a chance to look at it yet, living 200 miles away

Chris

that is mental. no chance the mot place is exagerating? i find it hard to beleive the car passed an MOT and then got into that state in a year lol

as for 2k and a picky girl, why not get a slightly less shagged Ka if she wont have a fiesta

for £2k id get a golf gti, but im "like that"

Hmmm.... not in a situation far from your own at the moment with my gf.

Crappy Ford KA with suspension made from cheese, and an engine warning light that seems to be getting ready for the Christmas festivities. :o

Its now between a Ford Fiesta 2002-2008 model, or a Seat Ibiza around the same age, but she has a budget of £3k-3.5k.

I'd look at the Yaris if you want total reliabilty, or enjoy burning off all non-turbo'd cars :p

that thread goes down in history tbh

as for the 2002-2008 fester, my gf has one of those. has been totally reliable in its 30k miles of life so far. it is a bit sad on the motorways with road noise being high after 75mph, but other than that i wouldnt complain

Yeah ive told her to take it to somewhere else, but she doesnt want to shell out for an another MOT, but i obviously said just get them to have a quick look at the bits that need sorting.

Ill suggest a yaris aswell, cheers.

I just hate the fact now she wont spend 1k on a fiesta that prob will last till 100k Arghhh the joys of female motoring.

I dont think anyone coming from a Ka is going to complaina about motorway noise in a Fiesta :D

as for fuel, i drove her fiesta from southend, to leicester, then cheshire, to manchester and then back to essex a couple days later.

so including driving in and about those cities etc it still averaged 45mpg over that whole tank

my gf drives her fiesta damn hard all the time and its never gets below 42mpg on a tank

hers is the little 1.4

it went past 31k in the last couple months and the engine is really starting to loosen up and become "livlier" too
