Not necessarily, only certain games can do this. No one knows if MW2 will be able to do so. My guess is not.

No, just because it's sold on steam, doesn't mean you can just register a retail key. There is a list of about 25 or 30 games that this can be done with on the Steam forums somewhere and beyond that, you can't do it. The best you could do is add a shortcut to the steam list to launch the game but you can do that with minesweeper

There will be matchmaking with invites and server based hosting. That is how COD4 worked, right?

I'm getting it for £27 inc. free delivery from an online retailer rather than Steam as I had an issue with a couple of patches on previous CoD games being late on Steam so I missed the double XP weekends (though that was mostly a developer/publisher issue than Valve's fault).
