My brothers at a microsoft even thats taking place tonight in town, he texted me saying that theyre handing out discs saying "Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit promotional software" on it. Any ideas if this is the full version and if so possible to use the key from it for the rtm version of win 7 64?

Yes, it is a full version of Windows 7 Ultimate. I got a copy last week, it had a 32-bit disc, and a 64-bit disc. Yes, you can use its key to activate a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate RTM :)

If I may ask, what Microsoft event is your brother at?

Far as im aware this only has a 32 bit disc, and it seems that my technet\msdn account either won't let me get the rtm version or its not up for dload anymore :(

Indeed it was down at the "blackman" tech, hes on his way home now so hopefully i can snag it off him since he already has a voucher for it :p

Ah, I didn't realize earlier that you were from Ireland, and that the NI launch was today. I'm pretty sure you'll get a 64-bit disc as well. My discs were on top of each other in a plastic wrapper, so it wasn't until I opened the wrapper that I knew I had both editions. In some of the US events people have only been given the 32-bit media.

Yeah, got (another) set of 7 32/64bit Ultimate RTM (From Belfast Met). Both disks, one key. My 3rd such set :) Along with the Pro 32 and 64bit from MSDN :) All my machines covered for free, nice

If its only the 32bit version theres no point man! The session this evening was the windows home demo i think. The windows 7 session was 2 - 5.30

How do you all find out about these things?! Or am i just not cool enough to get invited?

Anyone know is there a Windows 7 launch event in Glasgow? I want some of this freebie action!

Likely to be too late. Most of these events have been heavily over subscribed as it is!

By being involved in either the IT industry or education or both :)

I got them because of work, but sign up to the technet newsletter etc and you should get event news and from just sign up. Might work and might not
