Hi guys,

Currently got a set of B&W 601 S3s and for a while have been thinking of completing my set-up with a LCR60 centre and eventually, getting some 603s and moving the 601s to the rear.

I've had them for quite a few years and really like the sound that they produce. I have the chance to buy a pair of Mission 773 fronts, 771 rears and matching centre for the same price that I could sell the 601s for (surely that should tell me all I need to know!)

I'm just a little bit concerned that the Missions won't match the quality of the B&Ws. I had a set of Mission 700 bookshelf and 702e floorstanders before the B&Ws that I liked at the time, but after getting hold of some 701s for a mate recently, was quite disappointed.

I don't want to get rid of the 601s if the Missions aren't up to much. I won't get chance to demo the Missions before buying, hence the thread.

Has anyone gone from the 773s to the B&Ws and can share some input? I appreciate that everyone is different and tastes will differ.

Cheers :)

Don't think I'll be able to :( They're on eBay you see. Ending in a few days.

They're also in Lincoln. A good few hours away from Preston.

Well in your position i'd stick with the B&Ws as you like the sound of them. As the saying goes, if it aint broken don't fix it.

I have 773's, main complaint is that the bass, it's there, but it's boomy and without detail - probably because the cabinets are cheap. In that respect, they're probably a bit of a downgrade from the B&W.

If you want surround at any cost then go for it, otherwise stick with the B&W for stereo

What, that you can buy 5 speakers for the same price of 2 old ones? Surely this tell you the Missions will be pap compaired to the B&Ws. Either that or the Missions will skyrocket in price towards the end of the auction

Thanks for the comments/feedback guys.

I was interested in feedback on how the Missions compared to the B&Ws, wasn't a dead sure thing that I'd replace the B&Ws. Didn't end up bidding anyway. I guess I was just looking for a change more than anything.

Don't get to stretch the B&Ws legs much anymore (shared house) but had the chance the other night and they still put a grin on my face. I guess changing the amp would be the next step to really get the best out of them, that's definitely a job for next year... and then onto the 603s.

Guest2, exactly my thinking hence the thread :)
