Absolutley loved SG1 and Atlantis (wish they didn't end Atlantis so abruptly :(). No doubt I'll love this too :D

Also must say, this looks a lot cleaner than previous series and a lot darker...

Well, since the other thread was closed due to people's inability to wait until after the show was aired before discussing it I figured I'd continue on the show comments here.

I've just seen Air part 3 and thought it was really good, apart from the cringey scene with the girl and her mother. To me it felt almost like Stargate of old with a bit more emphasis on exploration rather than which baddy of the week to explode. I do feel that the pilot should just have been a two parter rather than a three parter though as the story was starting to wear a bit thin. Overall it was a good start which I hope the writers will be able to improve upon with time.

For those of you lucky enough to see the show as it airs in the states please be aware we are not all as lucky, and, in an effort to stop this thread from getting locked, please do not discuss the newest episode until it has aired over here.

That makes it 21:00 every Tuesday before the latest episode has finished airing.

I enjoyed last nights episode as well, it still continued a lot of the character set up but started to hint at the style that the majority of the series will take. I agree about the mother scene, she was just down right awful, let's hope that's the last we see of her!!

I'm just wondering what the story is with the shuttle (?) that flew off the ship right at the end...

Just to re-iterate Antar, I'd like to see this thread continue as well so please no pre-aired (in the uk anyway) discussion :)

I think the problem at the moment is that their showing all this emotional rubish with her farther dieing and then going to her mother, but because the shows only just started theres absolutly no connection with these people so in a way we don't care.

They should have saved all the emotional rubbish for later on when we start giving a crap about the characters.

I thought maybe it was something to do with the two people who went to the other planet, maybe they encountered some form of alien life who then took a look at the ship out of curiosity.

Also, really liking the music in the show so far. It gives the show a sort of epic, adventury (<-now a word) feel.

Anyone else missing the opening title sequence though, the stupid little five second SGU thing is a bit crap in my opinion. I always liked the other Stargate themes at the beginning of the show as they promised something exciting was going to happen.

People need to be a little patient, the are building a character background and need to get to grips with not being on earth, as well as trying to appeal to people who've never seen stargate before.

Once it's done with that I hope it will come into it's own.

Wasn't fussed about the first two episodes, but didn't mind last nights episode. Couple of things annoyed me, like people giving up too early in the desert only to be re-invigorated by a tiny splash of water, and like how no-one seemed to be bothered about the two people who went through the stargate and got left behind. On the whole it was ok though.

I took the shuttle taking off at the end to be the bad guys spying on who is knocking about in the ship, presumably the two people who went to locked planets got captured and interrogated by the bad guys.

The shuttle at the end is just text book "get em wondering" I doubt its the bad guys your mentioning we don't even know if they exist.

Its trying too hard to hook the old lost crowd without being too obvious and it just doesn't work.

yeah I wondered that, I thought maybe it was an auto bot, sent with a Stargate. As that was the ships mission wasn't it. To plant stargates?

This is what I thought as well but how could there be so many Stargates ahead of them if this is meant to be the ship seeding the universe with Stargates? Is it possible this ship is following another ship and in fact the Destiny has a different purpose?

Also, the ship didn't really look Ancienty :D

Cant really make my mind up on this one yet. Watched last nights episode today, found myself hitting the fast forward button a couple of times which isn't usually a good sign for me.

Seems strange that a military unit would go 'off-world' to a desert planet without taking sufficient water for the 12hrs they needed to be there.

You also knew something was going to happen to someone in the group (a la the old Star Trek away teams! :D), though by them not showing the people dying a horrible death i would presume they will be a future story line.

Shuttle at the end? Hmmm. I personally was thinking it may be something to do with the Senator who kicked the bucket in the first episode, will the ship be doing something with his body, bringing it back to life in later episodes? Though now you mention it, we haven't really seen any 'baddies' yet ( i was hoping that the ship itself and where it has been might be involved in this somehow, like Event Horizon).

I think I'm with your first thought on this - the ship somehow knew two people were left behind.
Perhaps that's actually a marker buoy to help the Destiny find them, or a pre-programmed rescue shuttle which will rejoin the Destiny once it's picked up the two people?

Thats an interesting point hadn't thought of that... as there seems to be plenty of gates around they should be able to catch up easy enough :S

I do find it odd theres so many gates scattered about seeing as the ship was supposed to be seeding the universe - despite the small recon going ahead... cba to read up on that aspect tho.

He looked OLD - quite suprising... tbh tho I'd be happier if they'd have cut off all the earth bits after the first 2 episodes, no "flash backs", no communication stones - its all ruined it for me.

The communication stones do make sense to be fair, they're a valid means of intergalactic communication in the Stargate world so it makes sense they take them in case they would end up so far away that other standard methods of communication fail to work.

It's just unfortunate the use the scriptwriters have put them to so far.
