my chipset is, helpfully, underneath the graphics card and the fan on the heat sink that came with the MB may be on the way out - its a special fan that sits in a recessed heatsink so i doubt i could cut a new one up to fit it.
so, are there any low profile heatsinks with recessed fans out there? i don't know the exact measurements but it can't be much higher than 10mm.

i haven't had much luck finding any.

here is a picture of my motherboard so you can get an idea how high the cooler has to be:

so you see my problem...

Enzotech make some good low profile HS's
Might need a small mod to fit that board.

Or just run it passive

Or use a fan perpendicular to the mobo to blow air across the HS and graphic card

Or as above - e-mail winfast

sent foxconn a message.

i have tried a passive zalman cooler in the past but it wasn't ideal - i had to cut and bend a lot of the fins so the graphics card could pass through the middle of it, so i went back to the stock cooler but put the fan on a controller so i could slow it down.

putting an extra fan across the HS and graphics card is tricky - not much space in my case.

ideally, just looking for a low heatsink/fan i can plug in to replace the one i have.

hmmm, the Vantec CCB-A1C IceBerq

is a possibility if i can find someone in the uk that sells it. its 14mm but that might just fit.

why not stick a enzotech CHB-S1L (11.6mm) passive
or SLF-1 (13.5mm) active on with thermal glue/pad (who needs pins)

The forged copper enzotech heatsinks are sooooo much better that the al zalman ones especially in small spaces

just looked at the SLF-1 and that looks pretty good.

ermm, pretty hard to find a stockist in the uk!!

Also consider the evercool-vc-re chipset cooler. It round as oppsoed to square, the only thing to watch out for I guess is whether it could interfere with the caps on the mobo. Dimensions are 45mmx45mmx10mm. Cuta disc of paper 45mm diameter and see if it clashes with anythig.

damn, already ordered the expensive one!! lol.

we'll see how the enzotech one looks when it arrives - the one above looks like a good backup, thanks.
