I hate these things too.

Why can they not just generate a normal font on a plain background but still make it an image so it can't be copied and pasted?

It would be very easy to use some OCR code to get a bot to be able to read that.

Its not so much that its an image that makes it work, its the fact its ditorted text.

It's pretty difficult to read. Some of these image verification things are terrible.
