So I'm watching masterchef with my mum i cant see how hard it can be following a recipe book, anything else Ive cooked has turned out fine ( not just bacon and egg ) so can someone please tell me something i can cook thats very tasty for my mum and dad and sister (maybe) tomorrow night. All i ask is that its around £30 for the ingredients for 4 of us or maybe 3 since my sister wastes and puts fillet steak in the microwave after Ive put some effort into doing it so its "raw but no blood".

thanks :)

Edit://
Moved the date to today, i chose to make a guinness and steak pie its currently simmering. Im using this recipe http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/food_and_drink/gordon_ramsay/article2278941.ece all is looking well so far, its smelling great :)

Shipwreck Casserole

Grease casserole dish.

Layer:
-Thinly sliced potatoes
-Thinly sliced onions
-Cooked ground hamburger meat (beef mince)
-Can of beans in tomato sauce
-Can of tomato soup

Bake at 350 degrees, covered for 1 hour.
Remove from oven.
Spread grated cheddar over the casserole, and put back into the oven until the cheese browns.

Amounts of ingredients really depend on how much you want to make.

It's bloody delicious, mind you. So you might want to make a lot. And it'll probably set you back maybe 10 quid. Rest of money for drinks, desserts, maybe a starter? Or heck, maybe a DVD.

Go buy a reasonably priced slow cooker, unless your mum already has one, and then buy the stuff for a good old beef stew. I'm addicted to them atm.

Firstly, kill your sister, WHO THE HELL DOES THAT TO STEAK!!!!!!

Secondly why not do something basic a lasagne or a curry or stew?
Cottage pie is also a good idea as previously mentioned.
£30 isn't much if you want good ingredients so definitely stick basic.

You could also do something like chicken wrapped in parma ham with a cheesy risotto, maybe some asparagus.
Basic, easily done and achievable with good stuff inside £30.

Get an AGA. Nothing beats a stew slowly cooked overnight in the bottom oven of an AGA.
