Does anyone play tennis in Leeds? I'm supposed to be playin this American bird on Wednesday but where I played when I was at uni had no lights, I'm not planning on playing til 6 so obviously need somewhere either indoors or with floodlights.

Where I live in Bury there is a court that has floodlights that you can turn on yourself, and not like some hotwirin or a prised open case or anythin, its like a cable box and on the side are green buttons that turn the lights on for like an hour I think, there must be something like that in Leeds somewhere?

Anyone know? I've got a green kit kat I will post to whoever comes up with the best info, (seriously its a green kitkat, its from Japan)

cheers mate, £25 an hour is a lot though innit.

I might ring Leeds council tomorrow and find out where has floodlights.

I was sayin to a mate of mine that it's no wonder we produce like one player worth mentioning per decade (Greg doesn't count as he grew up in Canada) when there's hardly anywhere to play. Apparently in places like Argentina there's courts at the end of every street and stuff.

Ahhhhh my brother plays there and is a member and I believe you have to be one to use the courts sorry :( Maybe try phoning them and see if they do a day pass or similar??? You may be just better finding a free local council one like you mentioned just ring the Leeds leisure folk and see what they have to suggest :)

yeah I'm gonna do that tomorrow, having looked on google maps around the area there are a strange amount of tennis courts, I take back what I said, nobody uses them though. Unfortunately none (from what I can tell on Street View) have lights which is well annoying.

There must be somewhere though, you dont live with your brother do you Nige? I mean he;s not in the next room you could just lean your head round the door and ask him?

Long shot.

I see him tomorrow so can ask he will know if any local courts have flood lights which are free to use as he plays all over Leeds, will post in here around lunch time and let you know :) There has to be some as Leeds is huge its just finding them :D

yeah I know exactly, where I live in Bury its at the arse end of nowhere and there are courts there with free self operated floodlights so somewhere as big as leeds should be ashamed of itself if it hasnt.

Thanks for the help though mate, you want a green kitkat?

any word mate? Leeds Met has a tennis centre but I cant find out whether you have to be a member/student or how much it is. I went to the main uni and you didnt have to be a member there, it was just like a couple of quid more to go.

Hey mate, have asked and there is no free local courts to my brothers knowledge in Leeds that have flood lights, you mentioned Leeds MET you will need to be a student I believe caus if somebody comes along they will ask for a student card or the like, quite shocked really that there are no free open floodlit courts, will ask a mate if he knows any is it Wednesday you are planning to play? Gives you a bit of time to find a court there has to be one surely?

I know yeah its a joke innit. I'm gonna ring that club you posted and see what they say.

Yeah I'm playing on Wednesday but arranged it for 6 and I played yesterday at home and it was too dark to play by 6.45 so dunno what we're gonna do, the clocks go back soon though so does that give us another hour or take an hour away? I forget how it works.

Takes an hour away so will get dark for like 5 :( My Ex is from Bury! :D

unlucky for her.

I rang the parks department and they got backt o me yesterday, they said there's one park in leeds that has floodlit tennis courts, in Beeston.

Now I don't know if you know, but Beeston is one of the roughest places I've ever been, and I used to live in Salford.

My mum used to work in a college in beeston, its where at least one of the London bombers went and when I did this thing at uni, I had to go to a different college in beeston to use their machines.

The first day we weren't allowed in (at 8am) because 2 of the lads had got giant spanners out of the workshop and had a fight with them. I went into the toilets one day and there was swastikas on the walls of the cubicles and "Kill Pakis" written underneath.

Think I'll stick to badminton.
