Hi All new to the forum!

I've decided that after working hard for a year, I'm going to treat myself to a new PC build but need some help building as I have no idea what I should choose!

Could someone please spec me a PC up?

My budget is around £1000 on components and tower, I don't need any OS or peripherals as I'm just going to use my current stuff.

I would like to run everything on max settings with my screen ress 1920 x 1200 (if possible for a £1k rig?) including crysis and Modern Warfare 2 which I cant wait to come out! ;)

Many thanks for your time!

you dont need to spend 1k for a realy good gaming rig

Heres a beast of a pc
£980.87
£852.93 ex VAT;)

Thanks! :)

Couple of questions, do you think I would need 8GB for the latest games playing at maximum resolution and settings or is that overkill, and 4GB would suffice?

Also, is there much different between AMD and Intel when building for gaming?

Some people say AMD is better while others say Intel is better for gaming...

Na 4GB is fine dont worry

Intel is faster then AMD at nearly everything (if you have the money) plus the i7 is one the best Cpus out

Or you could go i5 route which will be very similar to performance to i7 and add a blu ray drive for hd movies as well. oh and if your going for performance its best to go intel at the moment.

not a bad spec but personally i'd drop the blue ray player for some thing cheaper and use the saved money for a better graphics card IE 5850 for more future proofing

as a side note i'd also change the noctua to a H50, ive just made that swap and found the h50 to be quite a few degree's cooler

I would personally go for 2x 5850s instead of 5770.

To be honest i was thinking that too fella. but after seeing some reviews etc its not that far behind and they would cost £75 each more, and i didn't want to sacrifice (don't know if i spelled that right) on the motherboard and cpu.

Here's my recommendation,

I can personally vouch for the mainboard, memory and cpu as I have them myself, albeit the C8 version of the memory. This combination has been flawless so far, no issues whatsoever and I'm getting some nice stable clocks.

The PSU will be enough if you decided to get another 5870 further down the line, and the case is large enough to fit the video card(s) in fine, It's also nicely understated.

Thanks for the replies :)

Not sure which one to go for, I don't really need to watch blue ray movies just so long as it lasts me a few years for gaming...

Also how hard is it to fit watercooling?

I've only really fitted my last PC with fans so I'm not sure about experimenting with watercooling yet lol

Cheers! :)

Depends WHICH watercooling, if it's basic like Corsair- easy, if it's full kit or custom, harder...

Also for £1k I would go for i7 and ATLEAST HD5850!!!
