Miracle Escape For Baby Under Train

Could have a raised angle at the edge of the platform so wheels can't keep travelling. Still allowing easy access on the train?

then you have drainage issues and risks of old people etc slipping on the slope when boarding/disembarking

how would that work? the train doors are always in a different position.

You have sets of gates that open outwards along the platform so no matter where the train stops you'd always be able to get out of the doors.

Surely they already have those issues? :) And little drains are all ready built in for water hazards aren't they?

probably have the drainage isse, but it's much easier to slip on a sloe when you're already off balance stepping of a train.

plus it would cost millions and disrupt the rail network for months.

easier just to say "hold on to your ****ing baby when next to hundred ton vehicles moving at high speeds and poor brakes" :p

You dont need modifications to train stations to stop this, you need the mother to put the ******* brakes down on the actual pram in the first place

until lthe train stops so the door is in-line with the post of one of these gates.

Doesn't matter if it does, because you can still go to either side of the post. Another option is barriers that raise up like bollards which avoids that problem, similar to barriers at a level crossing.

I saw this clip in a company reception area and my jaw just hit the floor. Mental. Thank God the kiddie was fine! Wouldn't have wanted to be there for that though.

How you going to get a pram past it? because you can' t fit that down the carriage to get off at the other door

And this still doesn't explain how you're going to cover the massive costs and disruption for virtually no benefit.

those prams roll to easy anyways and gotta admit mistakes do happen... you know next time she is near the train the brakes will be on the pram

Obviously too easy to make the ****ing platform level in the first place of course!!

Water run off is hardly an issue if the platform has a canopy over.

You can generally always spot the parents from the non-parents in threads like this. Thank goodness the baby's OK, though his poor mum will probably be having nightmares for years to come now! It was bad luck, but hardly more than that. She barely took her eyes off him for 4 seconds, just one of those unfortunate things. :( +1 for level platforms!

Holy **** that was close!!!

Simple mistake/oversight/accident that could have turned out so so bad, but in this instance the end result is a internet famous video clip and a mother that will probably never let her child even look in the wrong direction (let alone move) without her checking first.

The jubilee line on the London underground has such a system, the trains always stop in the same place and the train doors line up with the outer doors.

god i feel sorry for the mother i cant even begin to think what went though her head not to mention the train driver and the public.. just glad the baby is alright and honestly stop blaming the mother it was a honest mistake that has prob left a scar for life.. :(
