I can't believe there is no talk about this, it seems a very strong competitor, I see it as a mix of blackberry and iphone.

Anyone here bought one?

I've had a look at one in the O2 shop today... there were a lot of people in buying things, but no idea if any of them were a Pre. I was the only person looking at the Pre. I'd be tempted to have another look with a view to buy. But I think it's too expensive on contract, and I'm eager to see if there'll be a PAYG version so that I can keep my Sim Only.

Same here i just saw one whilst doing some shopping at Lakeside and tbh its a nice phone but its just too slow i found...i played a good 45 mins with it whilst my gf was in other shops having a look.

Looked at the tariffs and they want a min of £45 pm over 24mths:eek:.

Nice phone but the keyboard is far too cramped.

You must have missed some tariffs then as the min is £30 for 18 months ;)

Interesting phone. Not sure it will save Palm, though. They've been going in the wrong direction for too long. They should have been bang on the smartphone market years ago.

I think the pre had a lot of hype, but infact is a pretty middling phone from the latest information.

It may have had hype but there's no advertising. Not seen a single ad for it so how's the average man in the street supposed to know about it?

The Android phones are suffering from a similar issue - all the average buyer hears about is iPhone.

Seen one today on the TV...cant remember what channel but definitely a Pre ad...quite swish too and did mention at the end its out on O2.

But honestly they havent advertised or marketed it that well...i mean its out and so far ive only seen the one ad on TV.

Actually this is a possibility, who does it appeal to exactly?

If someone wants a toy to play music and surf on, they will buy an iphone, if someone wants a hardcore business tool, tehy will buy a blackberry.

I can't see too much of a market for a blend of the two.

They are advertising it all over the TV but to me it looks like a pointless phone. I think they will struggle to sell many to be honest, they have done in America!

"all over the TV"? Watched a fair bit recently and not seen a single advert for it.

If Palm really want to take on the iPhone, they need to be forking out for prime-time spots in the middle of things like X-Factor.

I have seen a few adds for the Pre on tv.

Edit: i have seen 2 of them already today the palm pre only on O2 blah blah.

well weve had them on sale sinse the 16th and not sold a single one yet. weve got 20 in stock btw :\ its completley passed unoticed, no ones heard of it. Palm havnt done a good job in my opinion. people are still much more intrested in the iphone and tbh i think itll saty that way.

The interface and software seems rather nice, but the hardware puts me off completely. It's not an attractive looking phone really, and the keyboard looks cheap and nasty.

Urm, I had a Palm Treo 600 and 650 years ago! There were a great improvement over my previous first gen MS Smartphone. When the 650 launched it was the best smartphone going.

Yeah, the Treo was out years ago. The first around 2004 or so wasn't it?

Since then they seem to have lost their way, otherwise they could have been well on top of the smartphone market. As it is, they're coming rather late to the party with a mass-market phone.
