Games you hate, but everyone else loves.

For me it has to be Halo – heard such great things about it and everyone seemed to be raving how great it was, but when I tried it, it was a total let down. The game play wasn’t anything new, it felt really clunky by comparison to the other FPS games I was playing on the PC at the time (I tried the PC version for Halo 1), but worst of all, it came across as some sort of Teletubbies FPS; all cutesy colourful enemies and alien weapons, plus the ‘hilarious’ comments they made.

I skipped Halo 2 for fear of hating that as much, but caved in at the prospect of a decent total game co-op for the third, but was equally let down by that, and once co-op was done, it was swiftly traded in.

Final Fantasy 9. Such a crap game. 7 and 8, both fantastic. 10 alright. But 9? Awful awful awful.

Bioshock, overrated in every way.
Resident Evil, I don't get which part is supposed to be fun, the boring simple puzzles, the crazy inventory system or the idea that there's something scary about badly rendered dogs.
Every GTA game after 2 and before 4, I just did not get it
GTA 4, Not sure whether I reallllly hate it, I play it online and like to mess about, but nothing about the singleplayer is enjoyable at all, not to mention the characters, mostly I like the technical achievements within the game engine but hate the actual "game" part of it.

i loved vice city, imo the best gta game i've played (and i've played them all (well not the playstation only versions)), but have to agree gta4 was a massive let down

oh and Final Fantasy...... never did get the mass appeal of that game

and last but not least............................ MARIO.............. all of them i hated each and every one of them......... sonic was a much better game imho :D

Where as I loved it more than any of the others...now where did that other thread go :p

I liked the levelling system it went retro but the art direction did not do it for me at all. And I can't really remember what the story was about. It was all over the place. :p

gonna be hear for a while, where to begin?

COD4 MP, the single player was really good for a single play through although short it was well presented and paced well. however the multiplayer is so over-rated its hilarious there is no substance, nothing at all involved in playing it, between that and the 90,000 irritating people playing it and saying random garbage over their headsets its shocking.

Left 4 Dead, possibly one of the worse games i have ever played, so bland and average in every concievable way, had to say to me friend 'hey lets turn this off and go on something else'.

HL in general, never understood why people rave so much about the bearded one with his crummy crowbar, i mean don't get me wrong as far as FPS go its not bad but its nothing other than another FPS, it started nothing and so many people place it on such a high pedestal.

Portal, how original for about five minutes then its boring as hell as nothing else happens basically.

Far Cry II, what a load of utter trash, crytek must be laughing at how bad ubisoft managed to make a game and then have the utter audacity to name it 'Far Cry'.

Final Fantasy, and i mean as a whole, they are a load of tripe, they are the same game over and over and over again it seems. stupid stories, stupid characters with stupid styling, nothing in final fantasy barring the cutscenes is worth **** to me.

COD: World At War, how and i mean HOW can you go from the pretty decent COD4 to the shockingly bad gameplay, horrific visuals and weapons that feel like your shooting air?

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, i don't remotely hate this game but its hugely over-rated in the graphics and gameplay department, i enjoyed playing through even if it was a bit on the short side. how some people quote this before Killzone II when referring to PS3 graphics is beyond me.

Killzone II, is in my opinion the pinnicle of next generation FPS and yet time and time again its overshadowed by the average AT BEST Call of Duty series, damned crime that is and i think its the most under-rated game of the current scene. it has so much more style and substance than COD4, it makes Uncharted/Far Cry II look like PS2 jobs by comparison, the action level and overall feel of the game eclipse any other FPS available for consoles. hell visually it makes most PC games look average and thats coming from a predominantly PC gamer. ;)

Crackdown - Really tried to get on with it and it was impressive, I was just unable to have fun playing it. Shoot fellas, get orbs, yawn, repeat :(.

Next person to put down final fantasy and kotor are really gonna get it ok:mad:

Zelda Games- just cant get into them at all the one i only liked was on the nes on the gold cartridge. Ive played ocarina of time on the gamecube, just got bored. Then i tried wind waker got near the end then switched off.

HL-COD-L4D

Let me at em, let me at em!!!

Assasins creed, simply because you hardly ever get to assasinate the target of the mission. You sneak into the building then all hell breaks lose causing you to have to chase the guy down. People have allready said its practically the same 3 missions each time.
Bioshock- never really got into it, but good visually.
Left 4 Dead- people give this a lot more credit then i think its worth.
All GTA's after 3- physics was a nice addition but this series has been done to death :) mission wise anyways.

I do agree that the halo franchise has become overated, however when the original came out on the x box it was the best fps out on consoles. Pc gamers did have half life etc which are in a different league. But the sheer amount of weapons, grenades and mixture of melee aswell as long range combat, vehicles etc is what attracted a lot of attention. Also the varying forms of enemies added a new element and it was fun to play. Halo 3 imo is also one of the best online games for the 360 as it doesnt suffer from host advantage as much as others, along with the ranking system and matchmaking been positives.

I think sometimes when a game gets a lot of attention from gamers / reviewers it means you expect a lot more from the game then what it gives. If you , like me, played halo on the off chance in a computer store with no knowledge of the game prior to its release it may have had a different impact on you.

Have to say Halo - to me it was nothing but a very average shooter.

Also FIFA & PES games. I love football, but have never enjoyed playing any of them.

Not read through the 5 pages but I'm going to have to say Halo (all except the original).

The games are by no means bad, they're just shoddy, and the main reason I dislike it (3 in particular) is that despite it's coding flaws, its LARGE number of devotees think it's the best thing in gaming. Apart from COD4 MP.....Halo followers seem to love that too.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy both Halo and COD MP but locally, not online, this is what spoils it for me.

Maybe what links Halo and COD is that they allow people to enter extreme competition mode whereby they get to trounce and belittle anyone in mic distance.
