end of democracy in the uk 12th oct

name them then.

I'm so very tempted to pull out the primary school retorts of "I asked you first" and "you're not answering my question" but nevermind - for what it matters to the debate I'm both Scottish and British. I'm perfectly comfortable with who I am, what my cultural heritage is and where I am in society.

it's strange, that the most simple questions are always the hardest to answer.

Matt, do you live in a lead lined house in case MI5 are listening ?

Don't get me wrong in that I think the forums are a better place for you being in them but your paranoia about the state doesn't half descend into some bizarre speculations.

You mean national characteristics? Aside from the broad ones such as tolerance, politeness, a sense of (often morbid) humour and a general desire to see fair play? I'd struggle after that but then again I don't think we need much more, nor even are they all characteristics specific to Britain or the British, they are simply a few characteristics that a great many people living in Britain share.

Additionally your edit makes it look as if it were a question that ended there, it was not. The question was one to you asking you to explain why you think national or cultural identity is necessary?

//edit and editing 6 minutes after you posted the question to answer your own question is poor form.

Absolutely agree with this. I believe excluding them would be a dangerous mistake which will work to their benefit. At the end of the day they were elected. Their success is as a result of the failure of the other political parties to realise that many people feel threatened by multi-culturalism. Yet, when someone talks about these concerns they are immediately denounced as a racist even if they're not. Where else have they to go but the BNP?

This

Doesn't matter what the BNP stand for or believe in, the fact they have been elected into those seats means they should be in them. Simply "banning" them from parliament opens up a can of worms. The BNP's views should be tackled via debate and intelligent discussion to show the public what they truly are, not simply hide them under the rug and hope they dont pop out the sides of it...

but as i said, the current 3 main political parties, lack individuals that are able to have an intelligent discussion, and with the mess they created they wouldn’t stand a chance against the BNP.

Its the newspapers that will bring down the BNP, not the other political parties. As soon as they start getting more and more press the general public gets to truly understand what they stand for and are then trusted to make the informed decision to vote against what they stand for. I have faith in the people of this country to never allow such a party to power as there are massive flaws in their political agenda which will never be rectified

They have destroyed this country, and that isn’t enough, they are succeeding in destroying the very fabric of this nation all the way down to the individual.

What nationality leant to you the genetic propensity of idiocy, you are as british as you feel, work hard, integrate into society and add to its diversity, im inclined to the view that we should be exporting some members of society and importing better stock, imigration works, not as it stands its a real shambles but it dose work, it needs refinement, not the iron jackboot of the BNP, we should export BNP members and tinfoil hat wearing nuts first, chavs after them and take it from there, then move to import motivated replacements who are good for society and the economy.

We could always put it to a national vote as to whether or not the racist Nick Griffin should be allowed to represent the UK in any way... That would certainly be democratic :D

you don’t get it Britain is being raped and being torn a new back passage, by the rich, the people that want to be rich and the poor non nationals.
Just the other day a plane load of Iraqis was hired by the British border control to take back the illegal’s once the plane arrive in iraq the government told Britain we dont want them. Britain is the laffing stock of the world and deep inside you, you know it.
We have a British government selling your assets because of their mistakes, and while they sell YOUR assets they are making a fortune.

IF the last labour leader was so proud of being british why does his children have Irish passports and handed back their British ones.

Hmm are you all missing an important point? This is a motion to prevent an MEP from using Westminister, home of our MPs. MEPs work across the channel. They're not attempting to ban an actual MP from sitting in the HoC.

Not really on, but at the same time not an end to democracy.
