Where the Hell do the Years go?

Just turned 22, which probably sounds young. But I too have been thinking about this recently. Probably because I've done nothing, achieved nothing since 18 and leaving college, and it looks set to stay that way for a while :(

I used to want to look older, but I am glad I still look younger than my age now :)

To add insult to injury The Dark Side Of The Moon tour in 1974 was the first date I took my future wife on and we're still together.
Funny thing is time doesn't mean that much until I hear things like -
Hey Dave, you know Julian who we used to look after when he was a baby? Well he's just got 12 GCSE's:eek:
16 years gone just like that.

brilliant song and album
i'm 25, the years are flying by but instead of lying back and letting them disappear i'm making the most of my time, at the moment, i'm experiencing things that i never in my wildest dreams would have thought i'd be doing, pushing my mental and physical limits all the time, i've never been fitter or happier, and to put the icing on the cake i'm payed to do it!

29 here with the big 3 0 looming large next year. I'm nowhere near I where I want to be proffessionally but my personal life is something I will not chance for anything in the world. But I hear you OP with the funny name. It seems like last weekend I hit the clubs in Kings Cross, 20, without a care in the world.

I will be celebrating at my 30th birthday party 4 weeks today  :( :D
I will be celebrating my 40th birthday in about 14 weeks time :o :( :o

I now getting to hate looking forward to my birthdays :(

I remember i used to always couldn't wait for my birthday to come as it was another reason to party, get drunk, get layed, receive presents etc.......
Now i think birthdays are there just to remind me that am getting very old very fast...

What do you do?

I'm 23 and feel older than my years. Some things feel like they've flown by but others seem like they were years and years when they weren't at.

I can say though, overall it feels the years are NOT flying in.

40 here. I look back and realise how much the world has changed in my lifetime so far. But I still feel like an 18 year old n00b to be honest :) I'm also fitter and stronger than in previous years... but obviously it's all downhill from here :D

I can relate to this-my son was 17 this year and i am only 36, when did that all happen??? last thing i remember was getting sloshed with my mates in a pub and the rest is a blur:D

When you're young, say 5, a year is 1/5 of your life and thus a fair chunk. As the years roll on, a year becomes a smaller fraction of your life. I am 42, so a year is 1/42, and they shoot by in no time.

This would be my answer, along with you get less new experiences as you get older, which help segregate time into smaller chunks.
