**The Dragon Age Origins Thread **

My copy of pcgamer came and they gave the game 94%. The only cons they came up with was that the game is really hard, even on certain parts in the game on easy setting.

Sounds good. I find it strange when being hard is considered a con. Maybe he didn't have the lame +1 to all stats ring. ;)

well ive just ordered the steam deluxe version and im gonna go cancel my shop CE order.

Im confused is that ring really worth an extra £10 (compaired to EA download)? Or am i missing something? Not moaning or anything just curious why anyone would pay an extra £10. Maybe its because you are more comfortable using Steam?

Grimoire of the Frozen Wastes
Far north of Orthland lies the Frozen Wastes. In these pages are hundreds of harrowing tales describing how the barbarians survive in their icy homeland. The authors' hope their stories will help readers in their times of need. Or at the least prove entertaining.

Stats: When read adds +3 to a player's attributes.

Now you see that is a crazy buff, which is why I'm leaning towards the shop CE.

Think i'm just gonna buy the cheapest shop version I can, I'm sure I can live without an item or two and if I want extra content I can download it if and when I choose

Ah this post on the Bioware forums (http://daforums.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=695645&forum=135&sp=0 check out the dev post half way down on page 3) suggests that it's a single +3 to a single attribute and as some skills require an attribute of 36 it's not a massive buff as I first thought.

Looks like I'll be ordering it online! What's the cheapest I can do out of Steam and EA? Games like this could do with a manual mind.

Price and Items are the same on either so it depends which platform you prefer.
Im gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that Steam would probbly win here :D

Heh, may as well cancel EA order and get it on Steam, much more reliable platform - and I won't have to back it up myself.

Shame we have to go digital to get Wardens Keep included, can't sell it now :(

(Although I still own every single BioWare game I've bought, where as all other games have been played then sold)

Christ, the shop CE gets clearly better items - I'm guessing a trade-off for not getting all DLC included. The Steam crit ring would have bben preferable, the EA ring looks positively turd, but I can't justify spending £40 on a game just to get some nice bonuses for relatively short periods of game-time. Thank Jebus for VoucherCodes.com25%.

Wish I knew more about Play.com's Feral Wolf charm, but I doubt anything it would do would compensate for the lack of DLC.

I went for the EA DDE version in the end, get all the DLC + soundtrack, walpapers and 2 rings for £30 using the 25% off code. Best value around i think at only £5 more.

It's lame that the UK DDE doesn't have the CE items like everywhere else but not a biggie. I'm sure similar items to the pre-orders can be created usignthe toolset anyway.

Im wondering what all the fuss about the items is
In games like this there will be dozens and dozens of items to use

Only real benefit I can see is perhaps making the game easier at the start
extra DLC to me is the main thing

True story. DLC normally contains hefty kit hikes anyway.

Once more, anyone have any pre-loading experience, preferably with EA? How soon before release can I start pre-loading, and will the activation date remain 6th or will DDE pre-orders kick in when the Americans get it on the 3rd?

my thoughts exactly. surely if the game is too hard either turn difficulty down, get more experience, or cheat. i don't see a reason to fuss over an item which would get replaced fairly quick, unless of course i'm mistaken and there is more that you get?

I got my confirmation email through for my character creation - I hope that's not the one I have to use to get the +1 stat ring. I messed about with a dwarf for a bit (not a euphamism) before settling on a human mage, but the dwarf's the only one mentioned in the email and I don't wanna play through the game for the first time with Highbulp Phudge II. Points for anyone who recognises the name.
