Really nice restaurants in the North-East? (Redcar / Middlesbrough)

I remember when Joe Ragatinis first opened years ago I got a truffle fudge cake thing called a Nero which was 45 quid, about the size of my little finger. Shocking.

Get down to the Hamilton Russell or The Bridge if you're willing to go a few mile further.

Sutton Arms Elton just down the A66 Eaglescliffe turn off. Food is all fresh plus loads to boot. i give it 5 stars and the size of the menu is unbelievable.

Noooooooo, i hate that place

I went there for my birthday last year, i ordered the mixed grill for about £12, my mate ordered the mini mixed grill for about £6, the only difference - one sausage, really, no extra chips or any extra meat, i got one more measly sausage than my mate for £6 extra - i was fuming, kicked off too and got a full refund.

Best by far has got to be Dudley Arms in Ingleby Greenhow, if you like steaks and traditional pub food. Yum :D Went there for my 21st with all my family and had the best club steak that i've ever had. Plus Chubby Brown was there too, and he's a big guy doubt he would go if it wasn't any good.

Wez is it best to list where you haven't worked?

I'm from the area too. Usually end up going to somewhere in Yarm to eat, starters as previously mentioned is pretty good. Oh and surely everyone has been to the Raj Bari, last time I went we got talking to the chef and got the desserts free :D

I rarely go into the centre of Boro anymore for shopping, but when I'm with a few mates Kebabish is quite good.

Definitely here, Cross Keys on the road from Nunthorpe to Guisborough is pretty good on a night (specials especially), Steak house at Pinchinthorpe Hall is meant to be good, used to the good before it was the steak house, Kings Grill in Saltburn gets good reviews from friends, Alessi's in Saltburn is pretty decent for Italian. Bit further out The Ellerby on the way to Whitby is good (in Ellerby funnily enough), Wainstones Hotel in Great Broughton out the back of Stokesley is good (had our wedding reception there), and even further out is the Star Inn at Harome (Michelin starred restaurant).

I think the Dudley Arms sounds perfect! Were gonna give it a try :D

Thanks all!

Will tell you what I think tommrow ;)

The Bridge Inn - Stappleton is the best place I have eaten in the North East hands down. It's in a different league compared to the likes of Central Park etc.

It is just outside of Darlington so hopefully you won't consider it to be too far.

It isn't too bad, great choice on the menu, love the crocodile, however the quality of meat used is rubbish and cheap.

Great for me and my mates & gf's to get together due to the space, but not the best place I have eaten.

Would have to agree with the above, although I'm bias as I know the owners of the pub very well!

Plus of course I only live about 10mins drive away in Yarm :D

Do not go to Central Park if you expect anything more than a slight bit of service! We had a leaving do there a while back and there were 18 of us, not once did we get asked for any more drinks, the food came out in such a random order compared to how it was ordered - and it was very slow service too. Never got asked if we'd like a dessert menu, never took our plates away until half the table had left (a few stayed a bit later, who informed us all the next day that they still didn't offer dessert or any further drinks - and took a fair while to remove the empty plates)

So yeah, don't go there ;)

I can't recommend anywhere in Teesside, although can recommend some decent pubs/restaurants around Thirsk area lol :D

Although I can agree with BenjiSayers - The Bridge Inn is superb :)
