Another thread with MX5s! Wish I could save up 5k for one, I'd be all over that!
The MX5 is a cheaper insurance option for me at least (and I'm an insurance black hole it seems). Those specalists cover more than Jap stuff, Chris Knott notably as they quoted on our SAAB but they don't like our area (very selective but that keeps their quotes down). You can only really contact them by phone. There is also Greenlight but for most stuff you need to be over 25 I think (mainly on the CTR).

Don't let that dodgy BBR put you off. You do not need to spend 5k on one unless you want a mk2, which you don'tnot really
he can make that on ebay as red is a very popular car and its not specific to any of the variations
Its a bit like thinking you should automatically get somebody's upgraded stereo. You'd expect to be given a choice to have the car with the standard audio system or pay a reasonable 2nd hand price for the upgraded one thats already in it.

Very nice and rare factory Mk2.5 turbocharged 5 that, no chance of getting one for 5k though all LHD too......

The price will obviously take into account the size of the car, and the MX5 is very small so id not anticipate you paying over £600 tbh.
Well worth it if you want a colour that simply isnt available (like white on e46 m3s)
was america the only country to get MX5s turbocharged out of the factory then ?

Not sure, all the Mk2.5 Mazdaspeed turbos i've seen have been LHD and in America, never seen a RHD one.
MK2 1.8i S, 140bhp, LSD and 0-60 in 7.7 seconds. Who cares if you look gay in it, you'll be going too fast to be recognised
7.7 seconds seems optimistic, good cars though (89-05).
You can get a very tidy one for £2500 just keep an eagle eye on the forums.

There's not much on the market up here at the moment unfortunatly. Been to see a few and they're rusty. I'd rather buy a 2003 car with no rust for 3k more and not have to worry about chronic rust with it being a commuter car as well. :/

No its the Mazdaspeed front and rear bumpers (or atleast front and rear splitter) Mazdaspeed side skirts.
All rare as rocking horse poop.
The sport and iS bumpers / skirts don't look the same.
Nope 7.7 seconds is bang on for the 140 and 146BHP 1.8iS and 1.8VVTI engines in the Mk2 and Mk2.5.
