UK Border Force - What a joke!

Anyone herd of the programme 'UK border Force' shown on sky last night?
I can't believe how easy it is for anyone to get into this country.

There was one guy who had just landed from Lagos, Nigeria. He came in on a fake passport. He claimed he was going to work as a security guard. When asked why he was travelling on a fake passport he said he was fleeing his home country as he was having trouble. He then said he was 15 (the guy looked 30). Social Services got involved and put him in a HOUSE whilst checks were made to confirm his age. He did the obvious and fled the house and has never been seen again.

Guys it was so obvious this guy was just playing the system yet still it was a walk in the park for him to get in. Obviously there must be 100's more doing this all the time, there are no records or identity checks on these people and they could be committing any sorts or crimes. Surly this is just going to continue until our country is run to the ground (if it has not been already)?

Sorry to rant but it really made me :(

It's because they spend 20-30 minutes grilling Britons coming back from Europe every day.

I always used to get stopped by them especially in Glasgow where there are about 3 international flights per month :p

We couldn’t believe that he was fifteen, he definitely looked at least ten years older. I don’t know why they didn’t look him up when the checks were being made.

They actually checked? Twice this year when I flew back into England I never even had to take out my passport at all. Apparently all checks were done from my previous country of departure which was Bergen (Norway) once and Prague the other time. How nice of other countries to decide who gets to fly here and are allowed to come in or not. Must be the EU thing.

Not if you fly into Standsted or Heathrow. At times you feel they are going to sigh and break down in tears when you hand them your passport. They can seem so disinterested.

That'll be the Norway that isn't actually in the EU will it?

They have new scanners now that read the chip in your (new version) passport, so theres no interaction with anyone, just someone standing there, like on the underground if you get stuck lol. Atleast this is what I used when I came back from Amsterdam in February, I believe they were testing it then, not sure if they are now!

I think that UK Boarder force is suppose to show what's being done or the lack of apparently..

Whats funny, is at the end of the program, the voice over guy always says... so and so failed to turn up and hasnt been seen since.

Then you watch the austrailian version and they are deported the same day.

Exactly, i was going to mention this. The Australian equivalent department have exactly the right approach. They have genuine care about their country and if there is ANY doubt about the applicant they will send them straight back.

It really grates my gears too. I immigrated from South Africa 5 years ago now and my wife and I have spent a small fortune following the system and jumping through hoops to get a permananet residence visa for that guy from Lagos to claim hes underage, cry/beg a bit and then let in to then disappear.

Nigeria is playing you Britain

My future sister in law works as an immigration officer at Stansted. Staff morale is very low for a number of reasons, so it's no surprise that passengers are picking up on that.

I have a Canadian passport and my wife has a UK passport.
Whenever we fly back into the country, I almost always get through customs faster than my wife. Granted, I have a legit residency permit, but we find it strange that she gets asked more questions than I do.

I know what you mean. I came here on a working holiday makers visa (which wasn't cheap). Then I got my residency permit (which wasn't too pricey) and next up is the indefinite leave to remain visa which is a whopping £1000 just for them to look at it. At least I have until June or so to pay that.

Watched it a few times, Its not even funny at the end of the episode when they round up and say 9 out of 10 over stayers caught working have been lost as they were released pending deportation?
