Canon 10D ER99 with sigma 70-300 apo dg

HI all

well i got the lense ,right EF mount and everything but when i connect it

i get ERR99 message

anybody got any ideas why ???

You know I got this all the time when I bought my 20D and my first lens for it was the Sigma 70 - 300.
I was told that the sigma lens requires sending away to be chipped for it to be compatible.
I bet thats will be the reason.

Try changing it from AV mode if it's on it. I have a Sigma lens on 20D, did the same thing, but now it's stopped. I think it's something to do with the AV setting but can't quite figure it out.

I took it back to where I bought it from and they sent it to sigma to be chipped for free.

Glad to hear your new lens fits.

Contact Sigma with as much information about the lens (model, serial no. etc) and they should tell you if it needs chipping and if so, how much.
