Would this GPU be ok for blu ray play back?

What TV do you have?

You should be aware that some ATI cards are pigs to get working with certain LCD TVs. I'm still having problems with the 3200 chipset and my Toshiba 37XV505DB. I have a thread about it open now, though no solutions yet.

I did try a mobile 3450 and it worked fine though. Just some bad combos, especially with my TV and some Bravias apparently.

YAY i have a bravia - so no doubt it wont work lol!!!

Its an old 40 inch one. It does 720p and 1080i but doesnt do 1080p :( But it is 3 years old :S

Also that GPU i have ordered doesnt need extra power does it. like 4pin,6pin or whatever its called :S

Im hoping i can "SET" the resolution to at least 720 so i can watch Blu Rays

If its one big headache, i will sell it

One thing i am confused about. Is how do i know if i am getting HD quality?

The 1360 x 768 is the most my HDTV will do which works out to be 720p i have found out on google, does that sound right?

1360x768 is a PC resolution, you'll probably find that's the max res via VGA connection or similar. If you use HDMI or DVI you can get 720p that way.

i have no problems with my Sony Bravia 40W2000 and my HD 3200, Moblity HD 3450 and it worked fine with my now retired 4870

blame the TV not the card, some TVs are bitches when it comes to overscan/underscan aswell

Well i have plugged it all it works but seriously need to tweak the settings. It hurts my eyes it so bright, txt dont look right and other problems.

I have also got sound through the tv, which i knew would be the case. Have been reading up on it. No sound through 5.1

720p = 1280x720 @60hz
1080i = 1920x1080 @25hz
1080p = 1920x1080 @60hz

Thank you - just set my tv too 1280x720 and its sorted the fuzzy lines and now the blu ray picture is x2/x3 the size IE bigger :D

Now all i need todo is sort out why i have got stero 5.1 in films. But when i listen to music stored on the pc its only out of the tv speakers :confused:
