I was actually thinking of getting barbour coat, this one http://www.johnlewis.com/28978/Style.aspx , but tried it on and didnt like the fit.

Was gonna get one of these for warmer times, http://www.johnlewis.com/20033/Style.aspx

I have tried many covert coats on, but i cant pull the look off lol. Plus one of my mates made the comment that they might be nice and look good around here (Berkeley Square) but when you go for a beer after work near liverpool street or fenchurch street, you'd look like a toff lol.
 
My girlfriend is obsessed with All Saints, I have a few items from there myself and in terms of material, fit, print, longevity they all vastly outperform anything I have from the likes of Topman etc.

Having said that, I would be hard pushed to spend £250 on a coat but thats me and my financial circumstances, if I could afford it, I would definitely spend it. Of course I can't say that all that they make is well made etc. but everything I've bought from there has been well worth the money :)

Have a look at the Hampton Quilt, which is the one I have. Very nice indeed :)
 
I bought a coat very similar to that from All Saints about 2 years ago (grey in colour, same style but shorter). Cost me about £240 and sadly didn't last very long. I've worn it a lot but you'll be lucky to get more than about 2 years out of it before it starts to look tatty.

All-Saints stuff if generally nice but not very well made. As long as you know that then I don't personally have a problem with it. In 2 years fashion moves on quite a bit and in fact I probably wouldn't wear mine again now anyway.
 
£250 on a coat isn't that much at all. Not incomparison to the likes of Prada etc. that tbh generally have similar levels of quality and style but are in the grand price bracket. I'd go for it if it is a nice coat, you will look and feel better wearing a decent coat over some Primark POS!
 
Thanks for all the advice peeps, I looked in Burberry yesterday for a laugh and there were coats for £1,700, so I suppose 250 isnt that much compared to those ;)
 
I have a few items from All Saints and i like them, well worth money comparitively. Some of their styling is quite bizar but it is all good quality.

For £250 I would look at another brand. Maybe have a look at stuff from the likes of Timberland, Gant, Aquascutum etc. CP Company do some nice heavy coats, but they can be quite expensive.

As for £1700 Burbury coats, that's a lot of money. I picked up a nice, long heavy duty Burbury coat for around £600. Bought it back in 2005 and still wear it every winter.

I've got a bit of a weakness for coats - I've seen a nice Gucci coat recently, it's a steal at only £850 ;)

On my break ive just been looking at coats. paul smith had a crap selection (2) both were thin, one was £600, the other £800

Ted baker i tried one on that looked nice and made very well but the shoulders had quite big padding and with reasonably big shoulders anyway it made me look like an american footballer!

I tried the all saints one on and it is nice, a bit tight around the arms. 40 was a bit too tight for me and 42 was about right (i'm 5' 10, 11.5stone, but quite big upper body)

Im going to have a look around more before parting with £250, ill check debenams tomorrow and some other specific make shops.

In Leeds there is a good selection

I just tried on the ted baker one, and seems better made than the all saints one. First impressions yesterday of the all saints was it was heavy and well made, the lining like mentioned earlier is not the silk stuff which you get inside suits, so would be longer lasting. However, i just tried the ted baker one on and the actual fabric the coat is made out of is sorted "knitted" rather than a normal wool coat, which would probably bobble (like the all saints one). It seemed more hard wearing, and you could possible get more longevity out of it. The baker one is also lighter, but that didnt detract from the expected warmth as its still felt like a good coat.

I think i'll discount the all saints one.
 
All saints is horrible.

I bought a nom de guerre jacket that cost a small fortune but i love it so it's worth it.

It all depends on if you can justify it or not....
 
In my experience all saints clothing has always been well manufactured and well worth the money. None of the items i've ever purchased from there have ever fall apart or shrunk after washing so I say go for it. Coats don't really go out of fashion so it will do you for a good few year!
