My mate recently bought an Asus M4A785D-M Pro 785G. The problem is that the DVI output on the motherboard doesn't fit with any of his DVI to analog convertors.

Anyone with this motherboard or the same chipset that can shed some light?
Thanks for your time.

Its likely its a digital only output (DVI-D). To convert to analogue u need a DVI-I port. Google it for more info.

I don't know the board but if it already has 1 analogue output (d-sub) you wont be able to get a second if its DVI-D. I.e. dual screen support only with 1 digital (DVI-D / HDMI) + 1 analogue D-SUB.

It is a DVI-D (Dual Link). It sais it is digital only but l found some DVI-D to VGA convertors on ebay. Will it work?

Really need to get an reply on this guys since my friend is busting my balls to a degree never seen before in the history of the human species about this.

I just read through the manual and I can confirm what coalfield says, you can't convert the DVI-D to VGA. If you want dual monitor you must do VGA + (DVI or HDMI).

Is you friend wanting to run one or two monitors from this board? If its just one, then use the standard VGA connection that's on the board.

Unfortunately he wants to run two monitors. Both are VGA. That is a bummer. Thanks for the info guys. I am afraid l won't hear the end of it.
