Im introuble with an Ebay buyer

Both you and the buyer are wrong.

Him for bidding on something when it was clear of the extra costs.

You for putting your item in the wrong catagory, eBay decide some sections have to offer free postage to stop fee avoidence.

I really hate this Free postage forced option now.

I also said it was £6.50 which is much easier to see than the smaller FREE P&P writing ;). The reason it wouldn't let me add a postage cost is because it was listed in the games section instead of the computer section. I take responsibility for that :)

Correct! It was in the wrong secion.

So you weren't allowed to add postage and then you tried to anyway.

I'm afraid this one is your fault.

But you are selling games NOT a computer.

Stop trying to con people on Ebay :)

ebay made me sell a Xplorer guitar with free postage due to it being a video game accessory, £7.46 it cost me to send via a parcel, I was like **********

If you know it is going to cost a certain amount to post can you not put that as a min bid, that way your postage is always covered, and pies it is a bit silly for not checking the postage first!

Should have either.

Ended it early
Contact Ebay and ask them to move the ad to right section and then edit the postage in.
Starting price of 6.50 which covers ur postage and whatever u get at the end is ur money for the item plus the delivery fee which was the starting price.
Go to eBid instead.
Sell on ocuk mm.

Btw 16 quid is far too much for a specy anyhow there worth a few quid if that really. Should be glad u sold it for that much as it has the postage in and a nice 10er for you.

He isn't even selling a Speccy, just the empty box. It is a misleading auction all round.

I suggest he double checks with the buyer that he understands it is just an empty box and no Spectrum is included.

If the buyer does realise that, then refund his postage and post the items at the seller's expense.

How is it misleading?

The title says "ZX Spectrum box with 15 games. NO COMPUTER" and in the description says "What you see in the picture is what you will get."

I think it's pretty obvious what's for sale. I wouldn't be surprised if the buyer hasn't read the auction at all.

I agree.

It's clear to me too.

I've had it before when a buyer didn't read the listing properly. He was annoyed but had to accept responsibility for not checking befroe he pressed 'buy it now'!

People aren't computers, they may read it quickly and read 'box' as 'boxed'.

Why mention the box in the title at all if the intention is not to mislead.

'15 Spectrum games' would be a better title.

You put it in the wrong category.

Ebay didn't let you charge postage, yet, you tried to.

You admitted that the listing wasn't 100% right all the way through as contradicts itself on postage costs.

You should not insist on postage if the buyer is not prepared to pay for it - and in this case has a good reason not too. The whole 'disabled sob story' is irrelevant, however he/she couldn't have known for sure what was going on and to be honest, some people will use whatever ebay officially says on the auction (i.e FREE P&P) to press the seller regardless of what they have put on their listing as officially they look as if they are on the right side.

You can explain to them that it was not ment to be misleading and offer them a refund if they choose to - or they can just suck it up and pay if they still want the items. It's your choice.

Nonetheless I am of the opinion that the whole listing was slightly twisted in a way to allude to a computer & games, not just games - otherwise why not put '15 games' as another member mentioned? You need to take into account that there are many foreign people buying from ebay and 'box' for them has a different meaning. I am not speaking theoritical here, I know from experience that in other languages a 'box' means a 'computer desktop unit'.

I hope there is an amicable solution to this because it sucks getting bad feedback for trivial issues.

You're not allowed to put Free P&P then state in the listing that extra payment is required, if I see a listing like this, I report it to eBay and it gets removed.

Because some people like to collect boxes. Also, it's not just the game's he's selling - there's the box, tape recorder and plug as well.

He should have put '15 ZX Specturm games & accessories' then, that would make more sense.

In agreement with the others. You tried to flout eBay rules and got caught out. Since the buyer obviously didn't fully read the listing the nice thing to do would be to make sure they're aware exactly what they'll be getting. Complete the deal and let it be.
