Mugen FN2 Confirmed

Looks like the following happened:
1. Tried upgrading the already highly optimised car, found that it needed serious money to do.
2. Somehow got agreement to build it
3. Then realised that the price was well above an RS/RB etc and that sales numbers would be ludicrously low
4. Panicked, at the probable loses.
5. Decided to offset some of the development costs by charging a LOT more, then sell bugger all of them

I can't help but think that stuffing a low pressure FI kit on it would have been far more cost effective.

Honda and FI from the factory! Are you insane man!

Thats like BMW and FI on an M car...... oh wait.... :o

Despite the ludicrous price - my bet is they sell them all.

Apparently they sold all the Japanese versions within 6 mins.

Just to add, I can't help but think that an interesting alternative would be to take a standard CTR and strip out the rear seats, sound proofing etc, that you'd probably end up with a similar p/w ratio but at under half the price.

The extra peak 40bhp won't tell the full story with this car, it's more about how the work re-shapes the power curve. Stripping a bog standard CTR isn't going to cut the mustard, Honda's are generally pretty light anyway.

I am really struggling to figure out why anyone would buy this over the equally competant yet significantly cheaper JDM Type R?

I assume the only reason would be exclusivity mixed with a few lost marbles?

Read the article in the latest topgear about this. They loved it but again scoffed at the price as many would. However one dissapointing thing is that the exhausts are fake units like on the Lexus IS-F, i dont understand why manufacturers would do this?

Damn nice car, but a bit overpriced.
Just got to think what you can get in that price range.

Got to love it in Milano red!

Can't help but feel bursting onto the scene with something like this priced the same as the RS or R26R would have helped launch Mugen Europe better. Limited runs like this dosen't really get the name out there as who's ever going to see or drive one?

<sigh> If they wanted to satisfy the enthusiasts they needed only start selling the proper Civic Type-R in the UK - the FD2, none of this FN2 tat:

No doubt it's a cool car and I too think they'll sell them all no prob. It does look different enough from the standard Type-R to stand out but 38k...no way unless you are a complete Honda fanatic. As has been said...if it was the same price as an RS Focus I'd probably take the Honda..maybe ;)
