Audi 1.9tdi -> RS4

Hes missing what is the most important thing - the engine!

RS4 is awesome. A 1.9TDi is not!

i think you're the one missing the point here.
the maximum speed limit you'll find in Norway is 90km/h (56mph) and that's on 'motorways'. all other roads have a limit of 80km/h or less.
cars are very expensive to run and register as the tax levels are abhorrent.

it's a show car, look at their web site to see other cars they have modified.
you can't use the full power of an RS4 in Norway. it just isn't safe to do silly speeds on 95% of the roads, and the 5% that are are littered with cameras, radar and police.

i know of someone who was jailed for 6 months and banned for 2 years for doing 100mph

I think im going to have to break from the norm on this one.

All im going to say is whats the point of having a car that looks like a ferrari and goes like a toyota yaris.....

I know if i had that car i would feel like a *****. Looks like an RS4 and sounds like a diesel. Now this is embrassing.

whats the point in having a car the power of the RS4 in norway though ?

you arent allowed to like the look of the RS4 or something ? we all clearly do. Providing he's not pretending its an RS4 on the cheap i dont see the problem.

Cost clearly isnt an issue, thats exactly why all that money was spent on the original OE body panels and lights for example !

Well the alternative to him is to move country and change lifestyle to get the car he wants, looking at the quality of the work done I say fair play to him.

Because performance is a part of, not the point of, car ownership.

Asthetics are important to some people, performance to others.

I drive a car that looks like a BMW M5 but doesn't go like one. Whats the difference?

Impressive stuff, for some reason i'm actually quite pleased you get the idea behind this car, i thought you would object :)

Difference is you should have paid more attention in school. If you did you would be driving a car that looks like an M5, Sounds like an M5 and goes like an M5.

One of the guys on that board is right. Definately something up with the rear wheels. One is tucked in far more than the other. (his drivers side)

Great project though, but even converting it to 4wd as he appears to have done and all the genuine parts plus painting etc and initial cost of car may well indeed have meant very little saving over buying the real thing

Must have been 4wd already, i've not looked at all the pictures but to make a fwd A4 4wd means chopping out the rear floor since the rear floorpan is different between the 2 and 4wd versions.

Total project cost just over half the value of an RS4 i'd say.

Great stuff.

If anyone has not seen the point of this yet they should go crawl into a hole and shutup.

Looks great, nice little compromise around the tax issue. 233BHP is nothing to scowl at either.

It was a 1.9TDI Quattro to start with so no conversion to 4wd. He was talking about spacers in the thread I suspect considering in the show photos the wheels are spaced out the same that in the two photos compared one wheel is spaced out and the other wasn't.

If someone did that in this country, I'd label them a dribbling tard. The fact is, it's more or less a complete exercise in pointlessness owning a car like that with such tax restrictions.

I bought my BMW when I was half way through big big school - studying for my degree. Now I've secured a proper job as a result of all my schooling I'm sure I'll be on the lookout for something that looks like an M5, sounds like an M5 and goes like an M5.

Next?

Exactly!

This is no different to all the spotty boy racers that spec up they chavvy cars with all the mods and what have you, who put on M3 badges on their 318i's. Who put RS4 alloys on they debadged A3 1.6's.....

Just because this is a RS4 conversion does not mean its any different. Its one and the same!
