doesn't it make you laugh,Hardware gets out of date so easly these days so many people get confused about what to Buy and build and want to be top Dog for awhile and poof it's out of date hehehehe

so give me a clue guys, what will Hardware be like in 10 years Time ? :D

graphics cards that will play crysis at 1000fps, 16 core cpu's hyper threaded to make 32 cores, terabytes of RAM.

we will never know, unless your psychic lol

I will guess there will not be computers as we know them today, "pc's" will be very specialised.

As we see more and more thing being integrated, I can in the future most people surfing the web from their tv, Via a inbuilt function or via a console. films will be either be streamed or downloaded to watch, same with music.

For the average joe i can see it being pc free home as we know it today.

Of course there will still be people needing to do tasks like, advanced video editing, 3d animation etc, who will have them.

That's my guess.

Kingston will be the top GPU dogs (ATI and Nvidia destroyed each other in the great fab wars of 2012).

Intel will removed themselves from the CPU/Chipset game entirely to focus on mobile phone ringtones and getting Larrabee to actually work.

AMD will have overtaken intel in 2014, but subsequently crushed by ARM when they decided to bring it.

And everything else will be owned by nintendo.

We still won't be able to play crysis properly.

All the information in the world will be piped directly into our subconscious. Reality and it's virtual counterpart will blur into one "augmented reality"... Making our dreams come true!

Processors will be made using a different manufacturing process. This process will be using stacked layers of muti-core micro-processors on one processor chip so 16 Core times 4 =64 Core ,times 8=128 Cores. Graphic cards and CPU's will be integrated into one small unit with ports for input and output devices. Ati with AMD, Intel with Nvidia.

Computers will be available which will have the ability be charged wirelessly :)

You could actually get a pretty good idea by graphing the historic changes in RAM size/speed, CPU speed, hard disk size/speed and then adding a best fit line (probably curve, actually) to the graph.

Then you would follow the best fit line 10 years into the future.

The thing is... I bet you wouldn't believe the projection. You would say "there's no way it could be that fast" or "there's no way anyone would need that much disk space". :D

In 10 years I will be playing Porn Star: Rise To Fame using a direct fibre interface to both my brain, and my testes.

IMO the desktop PC will all but dissappear.

Laptops will be the modus operandi in the home, as people realise that they don't need graphics cards etc for "regular" use
Thin client systems will rule in the workplace as companies realise it's cheaper to buy one decent server and run 50 clients off it, with no loss of MS office performance.

The desktop PC will continue approximately as you'd expect, with more cores and higher frequencies. SSDs will evolve but keep the same basic premise, and become ubictuous in all systems. Desktops, however, will be the sole preserve of the hobbyist/power user/professional as games move onto the consoles.
