I was going to set him up on Dungeon Runners but it seems to be shutting down, shame because it would have been right up his street.

Hes played Dead Frontier, which is a bit dull and not much progression, he did Runescape but seems to have got bored.

Anyone got any ideas? Something free to play and free to download with a fairly active community.

Just buy him TF2, it's like 8 quid or something

My brother started playing CS and TFC at about 9 or 10

It's addictive, but not life draining like an MMO

Free Realms is a similar model to RuneScape and aimed for the same demo. Also if it's less MMO and more mini game he is interested in, Kongregate or Funorb are good shouts.

how about reading a book instead of computer game's ?

Hes 12 and hes already read the entire David Eddings series (both ones with Garion) most of my forgotten realms books, the Golden compass series, hes about to start on Drizzit, ill stop there to save you a bit of face.

No, no TF2. He wont drain his life on any game, thats not the way we work in our house hold.

He just wants something he can go online with his mates (like Runscape or Dead Frontier).

when playing aion i heard some people take about Runes of Magic (i think..) which is supposed to be the same/better than WoW and free to play. I don't really know myself but you could check it out.

Sorry for being off topic, but if hes wants some more books to read, take a look at Garth Nix. His Old Kingdom trilogy is great.

What would you say the age group is? Not bothered about long hard to read words :) Just the content. I thought about giving him Terry Brooks, but decided that he needs to read forgotten realms first. I also thought about The Wheel of time, but that would probably get boring for him when it gets all political. Ill look up Nix.

It's aimed at a teenage audience so it would read a bit easier than David Eddings. Also it sounds as if Runescape is the perfect game for him :p

Give runes of magic a try, the price is right.

Also Guild Wars, there is no monthly subscription. It's a brilliant game for playing with friends, as the world is instanced. It's hugely atmospheric and is a fantastic journey. Just make sure to play on the American servers, Euro has died off a bit now.
