Afternoon All..

My parents have just switched their 03 plate Mondeo for a 56 plate Focus. On the Mondeo I did some jiggery pokery with the door lock/ignition key to enable Auto lock (so the car locks when you pull away), but I can't find any equal instructions for the Focus.

Does anyone know if there's an equally easy method for the Focus, or is it a dealer job?

I had an 07 Zetec

1. Confirm that the perimeter alarm is disarmed.
2. Close all doors.
3. Confirm that the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
Note: Steps 4 through 8 must be performed within 30 seconds.
4. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN.
5. Press the power door lock UNLOCK button three times.
6. Turn the ignition switch from RUN to OFF.
7. Press the power door lock UNLOCK button three times.
8. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN.
9. Verify that the RAP module chirps the horn. This indicates that the RAP module is now in the enable/disable mode and ready to accept program changes.
10. Press the power door lock UNLOCK button one time to command the RAP module to toggle the autolock/relock feature ON or OFF.
11. Press the power door lock LOCK button once to enter the command.
12. Verify that the vehicle horn chirps one time to signal the RAP module confirmation of the command. There should only be one chirp indicating that the autolock/relock feature has been disabled. If one chirp is heard, followed by a longer honk, the autolock/relock feature has just been enabled.

Try that? Was a quick Google.

Out of interest what is the benefit of locking the doors when you are driving?

My aunt has it on her 207 sw :( and it drives her mad
Start driving *thunk* stop at a junction *thunk* pull off *thunk*

so you can't get hi-jacked/accidentally open the doors whilst car is in motion.

If its anything like my Mondeo - you can still open the doors, remember most fords dont have separate locks from the handles. Opening the drivers door unlocks all the doors, opening other doors just opens that door.

Doesnt bother me at all for that reason - no more effort to get out and the added security is a benefit. Carjacking in this country/area is pretty unlikely but road rage incidents are always possible

That's pretty odd, normally cars with the feature lock once you're past 5/10mph or so, and then stay locked until you open the door, that's how it works on my Megane anyway!

Cheers, I'll give it a go. Couldn't find anything when I searched.. odd.

The biggest reason for this is the boot - without it the boot is open when you're driving, which isn't good. I once had someone try and open my boot when I was stuck in traffic in a city centre - obviously thought there might be a laptop or something in there (A6 with a geezer in a suit in it).

That might have been the case actually, but i noticed it did the lock/unlock thing at the first few junctions then i'm not sure if it stopped or i just got used to it :)

it shouldn't unlock when you stop though. sounds like there's something wrong with it..
they should only unlock when you open the door or manually unlock it

Thats what I was thinking - the whole point is to stop people getting in, a bit pointless if it only works when you're moving!

I dont think the Mk1 Focus has it.

It's not constant (shouldnt be anyway) - mine locks when I get past 5mph and stays that way
