Work have told me im spending the next 2-3 months in the USA and im thinking what im going to do do with the boring nights stuck in a hotel in the middle of nowhere.

I was considering taking my 360 or ps3 over ther with me but its doubtful that the TV i get will be high def meaning a PAL console wont work.

Which of the following is the best idea do you reckon?

1) Buy a US console (360 most likely) and US games (forza, MW2) trade them when i come back and use the credit for PS3 games (region free i understand) and accessories (could use another wireless headset etc) - Take my HD from my UK 360 and see if i can use it there.

2) drag a UK console over there try and get it working (110 volts NTSC etc etc)

Which UK games with work on a NTSC console? Region free wont be enough will it if im on a rubbish NTSC blurry vision TV.

While in the US i promise to be as annoying as all the other mercins on xbox live.....

A lot of people would just buy one in the USA and then return it before they'd leave for a full refund. If you prefer not doing that even though in America no questions are asked from the larger stores when you return something, then sell it on ebay for maybe 10% less than what you originally paid for it. Lugging a UK model is just not worth it.

Where abouts will you be staying?

Buy a US power supply for your 360, will probably work out cheaper than the loss you would get from trading the console and games back in.

A PAL console should work fine, only difference would be that not many 360 games are region free so you will wanna get a bunch of games before you go.

My thought that your PS3 would be best, its not as locked down as the 360 and the PSU is universal. Games are 99% region free so you wont to worry about them not working on your old machine.
