Financial Sense to Take Advantage of Scrappage Scheme?

It makes no sense at all to settle for a cheap new basic car over a Z4 that you've been dying to by for the last 12 months.

Close the thread, idiot! :p

p.s, The Ray-Bans won't look as cool in a 59 plate Madza 2 ;)

I don't know what you are talking about :)

Sorry, tickle in my nose. Better now.

Oh does it? Ignore the above statement then, there are no circumstances where it's beneficial.

Hang on - why the hell would they want tax and MOT - that would be like a scrapyard demanding an MOT before they take your car for crushing...

There is one occasion.

When the car HAS tax and MOT but you know will not pass another. This was the case with my mother's purchase, my old banger was running out of Tax and MOT and had a leaking head gasket.

We stripped the car of anything we could sell separately and then handed the car over with 3 days of MOT and 2 weeks of tax left on it.

Sold the parts separately and got about £1000 (included a near mint leather interior) then handed the car in for £2200 scrappage.
