Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

everyone looks so young too.... dont know why but was expecting older geeks (as in old enough to have been into SF2 when it first came about ^^ )

Im sure if I walked in, they'd all start making sniffing noises...

"What... whats that smell? DEODRANT? Ok whos the guy with a normal life trying to pass off as a geek in here?" :p

Nah, you're definitely one of them :p

The average age is about 25, there are about 4 people over 30 but it's very much a young mans game, unless you're online where reactions don't count :p

That looks pretty awesome and a good atmosphere. I'll need to pop down sometime and get some offline experience. Making the trip from Edinburgh to Birmingham to play Street Fighter is probably abit to much. I think i'll gather abit more knowledge of the game and then go around Christmas.

If anyone wants some online casuals i am up for it. My PSN is AnubisGI

I main Ryu. I am actually pretty bad at the game in all honesty but i try my best. I recorded some matches afew days ago with my friend from the States. He's the dude that was in the PS3 league if anyone of you remember. Here is some matches if you want to see what is on offer. :P

Next weekend will have about 50% more players as it's the Tekken 6 release weekend.

Greg, that rog was a pretty bad player, and be wary of mashing out those DP's offline as people will bait you into it for a free reset into another combo.

You really should learn some combo's and block strings too, and what to do after a connected AA dragon punch (EX fireball, super, Ultra etc), as over 70% of your damage was from mashed DP's!

I don't play Ryu but here are some useful combo's:

Punish whiffed moves: f.HP, c.HP, HP dragon punch
Safe "BnB" jump in: MK, c.LP, c.LP, c.MP, Fireball
You can also hit confirm into a dragon punch or hurricane kick by adapting the above combo.

Or perhaps ''Who's this idiot trying so desparately hard to separate himself from us... we're all just guys here to play a few games'' :p

Hey Kreeeee, yeah i know mashing out dragon punch is a bad idea but i solely use it against my friend as a mixup game. He's played my Ryu over 100 times so knows me pretty well. I actually played him this morning and said to myself i am only gonna dragon punch as an anti air. He did his hit strings ( 3 x lp) and actually waited for my mash out dragon punch but i simply walked up and threw him. Gives him something to think about.

Yeah my combo game needs a lot of work. I find that hp before the shoryuken in your first combo hard to pull off so i just do f.mp to shoryuken and fadc to ultra if i can. I do that in one of the Ken matches. I do hit ultra, super, ex hado from an anti air dp, just not against Balrog. :P

I do like that safe jump in. I'll probably use that when i crossup instead of the dull lp string.

I just made a "one take" video of my favourite useful balrog combo's (so no wasted 4 EXRU loops) so you can see how my offline play differs to my online play, uploading it to youtube now :)

Greg, mashing DP isn't a mixup game :p

There you go, added annotations for the button inputs, although you can see them on the left of the screen.

Let me know if you'd like to see more of these or if I should do a pre-planned proper in depth useful combo's video and game tips.

We're just normal people Cavallino, being social rather than sitting at home playing games by ourselves. Not sure what you have against social gamers tbh.

Lighten up mate I'm just pulling your leg and having a laugh. Take note of the plethora of smileys  Bit of a giveaway tbh.

Dont get me wrong, I think it is absolutely AWESOME to have a plethora of street fighter players under one roof. But for some of us who have a family/work/and further education (i.e. me :D) it is a little more difficult (not impossible mind) to go out of the way to attend a get together of players which is not local to my area.

Try not to drag your jokes out too far, as lengthy off topic jokes get tedious quite quickly :)

I play once a fortnight, every other Sunday, for about 5 hours.

Just been messing with Sagat for the first time and found out why he's broken!

As well as the best zoning in the game, great health, his easy jhk, clk, clk, DP hit confirmed string does 300 damage!

Add to that his easy to perform kara knee (plus kara shot and DP too) and his 622 damage DP, FADC, FHK, Ultra which is easier than Ryu's Ultra setup makes him a beast.

Great video Kreeeee. Just got one question. At 1:05 you say something like "if Ryu sticks out his ???? or whatever" I couldnt' hear that properly. I guess the ???? was meant to be some sort of poke? I can see how Balrog could punish a cr.mk with that combo.

As for other demonstrations, just do as many as you feel comfortable with.

The missing word is "foot".

Basically if he does anything that moves his hitbox forward, including a fireball or shoryuken he'll get a slap.
