So... I'd have to say Kirk - with Picard a close 2nd! Kirk for being the laid back, wise-cracking ladies man and Picard being the no-nonsense, "make it so" Borg-buster! :o

Picard. During the series run, Kirk may have got it. But he became an old whiney cretin who went out of his way to keep his command. He was trying to be Peter Pan.

All of the series captains have qualities and to be honest, all of them are great. However, Jean-Luc Picard is miles better.

Oh and:

:D
Makes me tingle he does! THE best. What helps is Stewart is a phenomenal actor.

Ive got to go with Picard and a close second Sisko (Sisko was promoted to Captain before anyone else complains lol).

Picard had class and presence. He had the most passion out of all the captains from the various shows imo and the spirit of an explorer. Stern, serious overall Stewart portrayed him as an incredibly likeable person who had a great respect for the Universe around him and the species in it.

If we were simply speaking from a 'command' point of view i would have gone with Sisko. The latter half of DS9 with the Dominion War showed the character to be a fantastic leader who cared for those around him and what they wanted to save. Avery Brooks was fantastic in the role imo.

Sisko was brilliant:
Desperate times call for desperate measures.

"So... I lied. I cheated. I bribed men to cover the crimes of other men. I am an accessory to murder. But the most damning thing of all... I think I can live with it. And if I had to do it all over again, I would. Garak was right about one thing, a guilty conscience is a small price to pay for the safety of the Alpha Quadrant. So I will learn to live with it. Because I can live with it. I can live with it... Computer, erase that entire personal log."

Sisko without a doubt, for a start he had the NX74205!
Er..... Had indeed:

agree with that completely :)
As for Kirk i just can't get past the fact he is played by one of the worst actors to have graced the tele.

Kirk. For the epic manliness and bromance.

The man searched the universe for his friends brain and then had McCoy put it back in his head. What more do you need?

edit:

Well the answer is you don't need more, but you can have it anyway. Epic episodes:

Picard. Not only does he have the best catch phrases ever but he is also the best actor the franchise has ever had.

Picard is my favourite. I think a major reason being that I grew up watching next gen.

I have to say though I was never a fan of DS9 :( in fact next gen was the last star trek series I really enjoyed.

It depends on who wrote the episode and who directed it. Personalities seem to change throughout the series. Best Actor who have been Patrick Stewart, Kate Mulgrew, Shatner, and the guy who "played" Sisco in that order.
