The 680i motherboards use a 4 pin Molex power socket to help power the GPU cards....Have you got that plugged in ???

On this 680i board in the picture below it the black 4 pin Molex socket above the blue IDE socket

hi , i have this exact same problem , no crashes but i get the verticle lines ... my setup is below , i'm 95% sure i've connected all the correct power cables up to the GPU but i will double check this when i get home as the problem is becoming a nusance, my whole setup is also stock and yes i was coming from an 8600GTS

Hi I had the same problem with my setup (i.e: gray vertical lines).
It would happen within a few minutes of borderlands everytime without fail (i tried at least 15 times). i thought maybe it may be the ram as it would sometimes crash when the computer was just sitting idle aswell, so i removed all but 1 of the sticks of ram and started up and tried borderlands and it played fine. So i reseated the rest of my ram and haven't had a problem since. it has been 2 days and my computer has been on constantly and played borderlands for at least 6-8hrs. My suggestion would be to just reseat all your ram sticks and see if the problem persists.

I know that reading this in a forum post it may sound a bit condecending. but it seems to have fixed the same problem on my computer and thought it could help yours.
If you try this please post whether or not it worked for you.
