did anyone else not see this when installing windows 7?

I installed 64bit professional and never got the ballot screen - it just installed IE8 by default......

(sorry if this has been asked, i did a search and couldnt find anything)

its hasn't been signed off by the EU so it will be coming as a windows update.

ahhh whats the point in that then if its not there from the beginning? I've installed win7, I've made my browser choice, why even bother giving me another choice so I can just ignore it or make the same choice again...?

Because the EU love wasting Microsoft's time, and they love wasting our time.

It's not wasting our time as we have win7 with all whistles and bells.

Bunch of idiots if you ask me. The whole point was surely to get people to use it from the start. Lol. Now we can all see, the EU really have no idea when it comes to things like this. What is the actual point of it coming in an update? Haha.

Either way, programs like Steam, need IE as that is the browser they use for photos etc.

Steam is about the only program that does (edit: and even then just to see screenshots of new releases), and as far as I'm concerned it's shoddy programming not to use the default browser. I've run XP and Windows 7 now with IE disabled, and apart from Steam I've had no problems.

That doesn't matter, I had Windows 7 Pro E and STEAM worked perfectly, the IE engine is (was) still in E versions with or without IE itself being installed so apps like STEAM would have always worked.

Seems pointless now.

Think i'll reinstall to atleast say I had the choice and not show any favouritism to Microsoft

Worked, yes. Perfectly? No. You can do everything apart from preview screenshots in the store. That tries to open an external IE window. That wont work.

Screenshots worked fine for me, they did not open in an IE window but a new STEAM window where you could cycle screenshots using the little block things.

Odd... When I removed IE on both XP (well, used custom ISO so never actually installed it) and W7, the Steam window cycle screenshots stopped appearing.
