horrible nasty diesel engine, but looks like the ST220.

It doesnt go too badly though - its not in the same league as the 220 but its pretty decent. Better than a 130 TDI A4 anyway!

This is no different to all the spotty boy racers that spec up they chavvy cars with all the mods and what have you, who put on M3 badges on their 318i's. Who put RS4 alloys on they debadged A3 1.6's.....

Just because this is a RS4 conversion does not mean its any different. Its one and the same!

except it's not, because the cost to register and keep RS4s legally on the road in the UK are considerably lower than most of europe
if this project was in the UK, then it would be a pointless exercise. but it's not

Those figures are achievable going Stage 2 with the 1.9 lump though, I haven't read the whole thread on the link but has he actually tuned the engine or left it standard? If he hasn't, is there a reason (eg it's banned in Norway or whatever?)

I say fair play to him on the whole project though, looks stunning!

I understand the reasons why he's built a diesel powered RS4-alike, and if I lived there I may do something similar rather than spend £125,000 on a used RS4

Also considering he's had a part in building both of the Gatebil taxis, I don't think a real RS4 would have enough power!!

The BMW taxi has a 650bhp turbo'd 3.0 M3 unit and the XC90 eek has a turbo Volvo V8 pushing 800bhp!

Agreed - The real RS4's are pretty slow for all the hype, so he'd be more mad to spend £125,000 on a proper one.
