rubbish, mse is promising but still playing catchup. until they do, no. it isnt better (or as good as) other alternatives out there.

Why is it rubbish, once people cotton on that it's FREE unless MS are to charge for it in the near future then why would someone choose another AV over one that MS produce?

because avira is better. it detects more and prevents more, which makes it a better product. it's also free, as is avast. so what reason is there to use mse? unless you're just curious, none :)

Except that falls apart when you look at a pile of crap like AVG.

hey i never said anybody should use AVG :p

Got MSE on my Laptop and perfectly happy with it tbh, seems to be unintrusive, easy to use and have a small footprint.

Of course on my main comp Ive got NOD32 and would never consider anything else for it.

This, MSE is a good lightweight AV for my business and everyday use, NOD32 is sitting pretty on the home pc though ;)

MSE is great until it happily lets known trojans through to your machine, while MS email you back to say if you'd PAID them for a different AV product, the virus would have been caught as they've known about it since June 2009.

Avira Free offers all the same protection as MSE, and it doesn't allow year-old trojans through.
