Can somebody explain BMW

It would be noted if you has multiple accounts posting from the same IP. Not the other way around :)

I've logged into my account on gurusan's pc (once), and we both happily post from Uni PCs meaning and have used another mate's pc and no-one has cared ... ever.

He does have a point though, what is the point of M versions of SUVs, M cars are "performance" cars, the only thing the X5/6M is good at is looking ***

and going in fast in a straight line whilst still being practical.

Yes an M5 can do that too, and go round corners. But in some peoples eyes, wont look as good as an SUV.

It still dilutes the M "performance car" brand though :/
Plus it's stupid putting the fastest engines in the SUV, those engines should already be in the M3/M5

the "performance car brand" is changing.

Live with it

The new 2010 M5 will be the first Turbo M car that isnt an SUV. Heck you may even see hybrid M cars.

The ///M brand is relatively meaningless these days - you can buy a dull diesel hatchback with M badges on it. Yes, I know the distinction between that and an M car, but Mr Average doesnt.

These days?

M1 aside, the M badge appeared first on a non M power car. You know that, right?

I didn't!

In the 90s, I always associated the M badge with M cars and only M cars, but M-Sport cars seem to be way more popular now - might just be me though

The first M badged car was the M535i. Pretty much the 80's 530i Sport in terms of performance, although it had an LSD.

Later in the 80's the most popular car to roll off the production line badged up with ///M was...

...the E30 325i Sport.

In the 90's, 328i Sport's and 528i/535i/540i Sports also came off the production line wearing exterior and interior M badges.

Wasn't that because the E30 M3 was not really sold outside of Germany though?

does anybody here actually care? i mean really, SOMEONE ON THE INTERNET HAS 2 ACCOUNTS FOR 1 FORUM!!!11
we should go round to his house and beat him with some keyboards

Thank you.

I tried to inform the moderators and admins of the two accounts but they didn't take notice.

Finally... 4X4 Bashing. If I won the lottery, at university, my first car of choice would probably be an X5 M, purely for pretentiousness.

X5M looks fantastic tbh and goes like **** off the proverbial shovel.
