nearly double the memory not making u the difference, then there is the whole dx11.
how long gonna be before games with this appear?

ok true, ive ordered the *** version anyway so ime gonna stick with it. a few benchmarks ive seen there isnt a lot between the two and that was using the stock 295

Do yourself a favour - 295 is nearly EOL; save some money and get a 5870 or spend a little more and get a pair of 5850s.......

I'd stick with the GTX295 at worst its the same performance as a 5870 and at best 10% faster in some games. Though this all depends if money is a problem which it clearly isnt as you've already ordered one.

Temps: They do get quite warm as you would expect, I have mine overclocked to 650/1200/1400 (just because I like even numbers) it will probably overclock a little more, max temp in Vantage is 80c with fans at 50% load. I also get a shade under 26k brownie points in Vantage with an I7 920 @ 4.0GHZ.

295 is old tech, a power eating relic and now EOL, performance wise its not much better than a 5870 and in some games worse, it also depends in SLI scaling to get you decent performance. The 5870 is DX11 and is set for future games that support it, power usage at idle is 27 watt which is great and even at load its no where near the 295's consumption levels, image quality is better on the ATI card IMO.

i just sold my big box copy of deus ex on ebay, i got 2 quid for it, and now that you cannot charge postage on anything on ebay i made about four pence after postage and packing costs lol

I can get a brand new 295 for about the same money as a 5850. Is it worth it at this price point? I'm not sure if my 750W supply is up to the job though :(

...... not about being an ATI or nVidia fanboy - my main concern if I was buying (another) 295 is that is is nearly EOL - if I was an nVidia fan I'd wait a while and see if Fermi appears/is affordable; if I was an ATI fan then I may be tempted to wait for their X2 offering; but if I had to buy something now it would be 5870 or a pair 5850.
