Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Shipping With Steamworks

Yet you ignore the frequent flaming that goes on in the console forum. I'm sure there are more console fanboys that rubbish the PC community than the other way round. Honestly. Get out if you haven't got anything useful to say. That also goes to Triedandtested and RDM etc...

I rest my case really

This is the pc forum, it's common behaviour sadly :(

Any bad game is automatically suffering from 'consolitis' and any good game that happens to be on console as well is of course just a good port from PC.
Ok, so matchmaking and p2p, which are both commonly used in console games, is being used on this game on the pc. I'd say that was a direct effect of 'consolitus'! Its a big, backward step for the pc, and Im not a fanboy of any kind, I own all 3 consoles. But as a pc gamer for years also, it is one hell of a kick in the nuts, especially as I was looking forward to the mp side of things.

And stop generalising, its not big or clever.

LinktoInsanity accused me of it in one of the other threads (and again below) and it comes up again and again.

???

Honestly. In that other thread I gave you several arguements and you replied to none of them and yet you still believe you have the high ground?

I rest my case really

What? How was that aggressive or proving any point you've made?

Both of you added to ignore list (provided this forum has one). Don't like reading posts made by people who do not listen to anything others have to say and still believe they have the high ground.

You best get used to it as the console gamers are shaping the future of ALL gaming whether you like it or not. :p

Some of the responses in here do tickle me. I've never seen such narrow mindedness.

right well ive got two things to say.
the first is a response to this quote. all you have to do is look at how the wii has affected console gaming and youl see that consoles in general (ill excempt the ps3 a tad) absolutley pander to the 'casual gamer' now the casual gamer to them isnt what it really should be. its not someone who likes to fire up a game once a week and have some fun. its someone who likes to play the simplest game (ie cheapest to produce) and gets a kick out of it (wii sports being the biggest selling game of all time) now i have no problem with that at all, in fact i embrace it. abit of fun is great. however i dont want it leeching over into my neck of the woods. i like games to be hard. i like to fail, fail, fail and then finally succeed. the kind of people that games developers seem to be aiming their games at now are these people. the kind of people who die twice and turn the console off. now again i understand why this happens (more money) but it would be nice to have a few games aimed at people like me. this kind of descion i find patronising. iw said it themselves, that navigating a server list is too difficult? do they assume that everyone who plays their games are morons?

now the second thing i have to say is about your this should have been done the right way type thing. now i assume that the right way is a petition to iw themselves? something similar? ie not an immense flame war with lots of swearing and prebuscent sweat throwing? well this pretty much happened. there were lots of 'official' threads in the iw forums for people like me to air their opinions. they got deleted... who ignores, then deletes their users opinions? someone who doesnt care what their users opinions are.
someone who calls their users, fanboys and nerds etc

this is why there has been such a huge outcry

as for why people are annoyed about no dedicated servers, im sure youve heard most of the arguments (clan base, low ping (thats a killer for me) no mods etc) the worst for me is the assumption that well be happy with a console port. no effort for you pc users! youl get a port for the same price which isnt designed for the pc so wont run anywhere near as well.
oh and you wont be able to resell it like our console gamers can.

so basically theres no advantage to owning a pc for this game. again thats pretty much fine, just dont release it on pc at all. and if you do, dont expect us to buy it. i would have considered buying this on xbox ot play with my friends if the pc version was shoddy/choppy etc. now i wont. becasue i dont like iw insulting me.

About consolitis and MW2 in general:

Yes, I can understand the disappointment, but then again (trying to be fair here) there's an (albeit half-hearted) attempt to bring a console game to the PC for the enjoyment of a lot of people. It's not perfect by a long shot, but it's better than nothing.

Try seeing it the other way: there are a lot of games that are exclusive to the PC and that will never be released on a console because the hardware isn't up to it.

There will always be console games ported to a PC in a more or less satisfactory fassion, but the best PC games will never reach a console.

There's plenty of good PC multiplayer stuff out there, go and play that. One missed title: So what?

yeah i will go play other games and give mw2 a miss. just a shame cos i was excited about it. theres not that many games that are pc only nowadays no? as consoles are farily high specced. and also (im assuming your a consoley here please dont flame) would it not annoy you to have a game like ... i dont know gears of war? (a console made game) for the developers to port it to pc and rip out some of the most important aspects of the game from the console version, then tell you its for your own good, and insult you for asking for it back?

Sorry Touchstone I agree 100% with your post however since wii sports was given away with 99% of wii consoles I don't think you could call it the biggest "selling" perhaps it produced the most copies but in terms of cash through till I'm sure it isn't.

I've had a PS3 and Xbox for a few years now and the main reason for not playing FPS is that a) I have to buy a separate headset and two (autoaim)

I'm a casual gamer in so much as I only play twice per week due to time constraints but I love finding a great dedicated server where you can greet everyone in game it's the same players you can have grudges against berate via ingame chat when you best them and console the losers and laugh at the whingers and also you can moan about wall hacks. Occasionally with S&D type games you get some great converstations when you are dead and meet some nice people. FPS in Xbox and PS3 just doesn't feel the same it's my personal opinion.

Now if MW2 doesn't let me play online on 32-64 player servers of my choice then I won't buy the game it really boils down to that.

I have bought CSS via steam and I'm sure you can still have dedicated servers with CSS. It's not steam's fault. In fact how will it work via steam?

About Amazon: Good for them! I always get peed off with reviews of titles that haven't been released yet.

When the game's out and the opinions can be substantiated is the right time, and not before.

The reviews had nothing to do with any qualities of the game but the circumstances surrounding it.

Nice to see you on the forums if you are who I think you are mate, but I'd recommend you remove that competitor link before a mod spots it ;)

Damn, could we have clearer guidelines on what is and isn't allowed to be linked? I don't think Amazon sell very many things OcUK does, and not being able to link stuff like that is rather restricting. Who in their right mind would buy from Amazon what could be had from OcUK? I'd love a list of example or most popular sites that we're not allowed to link to or reference, but I'm not sure where it would go without violating the ToS by its very nature.

yay i agree with you :D was just quoting stats :D. but i think in general you could apply how well the wii has done to that argument instead

@Touchstone: No, I'm strictly PC only, never had a console and never want one. My son has had all the main consoles through the years and I find the games ridiculous in many ways.

Nothing compares to PC.
