Suppose if a meteor decides its going to hit earth, its going to hit earth. The only thing that can possibly stop it is Bruce Willis and a big drill!
 
There's a secondary concern with these, when they ARE detected, they tend to set off several countries nuclear missile warning systems. As you can imagine, it raises tensions somewhat. :)
 
I love these stories we cant even defend against earthquakes or mother nature how on earth can we protect ourselves from an object from space. If it happens its part of earth history about £10 sound be spent into looking at the defences we could build then head down to the pub.

Maybe. If Red from The Shawshank Redemption was President of the United States, I do think the world would be slightly better.

Also + ninja edit. That is a good point, But I don't think Obamamamamama would've acted in films like 'Along came a spider'
