Hi all,

I'm looking for a decent usb key (must be able to connect direct) mp3 and fm player. Must allow drag 'n drop. I've been looking at the sony range and will probably go with that but if you have any other suggestions worth looking at - please let me know,

Thanks!

I'd go for a Cowon S9 or if you want to spend less money a Cowon D2+. Sound quality on both is unrivalled by any competitors. On the S9 video and general screen quality is fantastic, again better than anything else out. Both work via drag and drop and both have FM radio, the D2+ is available in a DAB radio version as well, but I wouldn't let that make you choose it over the S9 unless you primarily want it for radio.

If you look around at reviews of the S9 keep in mind that they are probably using the first-release firmware, and since it's been released several firmware updates have made the UI MUCH faster, and has added gapless support, among other things.

[edit] If you want to get a Sony, their NWZ-X1060 is still a great player and would probably be my third choice behind the Cowons.

Lies, im sure their were tests carried out with the Kenwood player and it comes above the S9 and D2 for sound quality. It doesnt do much else but thats not the point (no video etc) nor is (was) it available in the UK

Im very happy with my d2 ,its never missed a beat ,locked up or anything have an sd card in as well and that integrates with the flash drive in the menu . the battery life is amazing and very fast transfer speeds.
theres no line out but the hp out is very clean so i have it hooked up to a caffine ultra and ultrasone hfi780.
sound quality wise the hifi man is the best but its $600
next i would say sony x series, amp3 pro2 or cowon s9

Lol, fair enough if it is, I haven't looked at anything not available in the UK :p

the x series sonys imo are better than the d2 and s9 at least in terms of sound quality, having owned one and played with the other. But none of those you suggested are usb keys are they :p

He wanted a "USB key, mp3 and fm player" which just means mp3 player with drag and drop :p

As for sound quality, I know the Sony X series is very good, but for me it just wasn't quite there compared to the Cowons. Personal preference and all that.
