Just got the code emailed to me earlier for pre-ordering the game so I downloaded it this morning. You can have a guest along for the ride and it takes place on the Parish level, you only seem to do around 2/3 of the level I don't think it's the full version. Graphics have been improved, they look sharper and the texures seem improved over the first game.

The level design seems better and you can take multiple routes through the streets, climb up ladders/enter buildings via windows for items etc. New zombies such as the Spitter and the Charger are here, the Spitter's acid attack is quite brutal to your health but they are pretty easy to take down. The Charger is an excellent addition, it makes you run for the hills as soon as you see or hear him charging towards you, I turned round to his elbow in my face on one occasion!

Witches now wander around the levels crying and they seem creepier than before, I recall one guy on my team thinking he was clever by slashing her in the face with a hunting knife. Suffice to say he was down in a pile of his own blood within 2 seconds! :D

The weapon selection is vastly improved, I had dual pistols (both different as well) an AK-47, Sniper Rifle, Assault Rifle (M16 by the look of it), various Uzi's and another couple of shotguns and machine guns. The melee weapons work really well, so far I've only found a Police Baton/Frying Pan (which sounds hilarious) and a hunting knife. But they do work well during the game and can save you if you get a massive horde around you.

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask, I believe the demo is officially out on the 3rd of Nov. You can play it over Live with a guest or in single player. No VS mode etc for the demo.

I will certainly be picking this up at launch, can't wait to try the chainsaw out!

!

Pretty much owns everyone who argued against me surrounding the whole weapons issue in the previous game. Glad the developers took that on board anyways :).

Its out on Steam tonight at about 8pm for those that have pre-ordered it on there too.

...the demo features all the new boss infected zombies and all the new melee weapons included in the full product.

Sounds like the chainsaw is in the demo somewhere? :)

Tricky to explain what I mean on this one. But here goes.

On LFD1 when you shot a zombie it didn't feel very 'satisfying' , the bullets didn't seem to effect it realistically, and it just limply fell down. The exception being the shotgun which was awesome.

A few previews I've read mention in lfd2 they have added more effects to the zombies when shot, like limbs coming off, bits of flesh being blown off etc. To give a more satisfying feeling.

Have you noticed anything like this?

Just played it, quite good, still not 100% sure why this is classed as a new game. Zombies are a lot more fun to shoot, where a lot can be shot off them, and burning them blackens thier corpses. There are a few other new toys to play with, as well as the pipe bomb and molotov, there is the boomer bile[bomb] which when you throw it there is a cloud of bile, which attracts the hord, allowing you to pick them off.

Also in addition to the med pack and pain pills, you get a defibrilater to help other players, but the trade off is that you can only carry this item, and not a first air pack. Also you can carry an additional Adrenaline syringe, which makes you go into a type of beserker mode, which was great fun with a machette.

The new special infected are ok, would like more experience to write up on them, the jockey is annoying because when they jump on your team mates, you have to run around to stop your health going down, so trying to shoot it off your team is quite a hard thing to do. The acid throwing spitter is a royal pain, easy to take down, but very sneaky at spitting her acid at you and I found that she blocked doorways with her acid a few times.

Finally, the finale event was way better than waiting for a rescue, in the demo, you have to make your way to a point to shut an alarm down. So rather than waiting you have to blast your way through the horde to reach safety.

Good game, but weird playing in the day light :S

Do you have to pre-order the game in order to play the demo on steam?

You would probably think not, as the whole point of a demo is to sell the game, pretty stupid when you've basically already sold it.

It will be free to Xbox Live Gold members soon... rather than the kind of situation Game has at the moment where if you pre-order it you can have the demo... no sense..

Those with pre-orders simply get the demo a few days earlier than the rest, it will still be available for everybody else before release.

Good god. The graphics are shocking. The game looks like something from the PS2. The only thing I enjoyed about the demo was the frying pan. Not a purchase for me.
