Eurogamer Expo Leeds/London

Gah didn't know about this till saw this thread just now. Would have booked day off and gone to Leeds.

Now I'm stuck at work :(

I've got nothing to do this weekend, so I might as well pop along to the London show on Saturday.

See above, the website says they are sold out, unless you already bought a ticket? I thought I was clever picking the Friday thinking no school kids, but I bought the ticket months ago, not realising this week is half term!!!

Waws up in Leeds for this yesterday, and I have to say, after playing some of the upcoming games, it's a good time to be a gamer. Not much swag to be had, I managed to get a WET t-shirt, whilst others at the back of the queue were given beanie hats from The Blue Toad Murder Files.

The small retailers outlet was mainly chart games at full price, no discounts here.

Out of all the games there, here were a few of the standout ones for me;

Split/Second, fast racing and deformable tracks, could be a Burnout challenger. Should be fun on live.

Blue Toad Murder Files, fun little cerebral puzzler in the vein of Prof Layton.

Heavy Rain, looked good but the characters still had that plastic sheen to them. Didn't help that the demo crashed 3 of the machines whilst I was watching.

New Super Mario Bros., finally, a reason to dust off the Wii. Limited to 10 mins on the demo pods, but that's all you need to see the Mario magic is back.

God of War 3, simply stunning visuals coupled with tightened gameplay, can't wait for this one.

Borderlands, I know many of you have this, but I wasn't sure what to make of it. After playing with it for a bit yesterday, I bought it on the way home. Just need my larger hard drive to arrive now so I can install it.

Joe Danger, a little indie title that was fun to play, kind of a cross between Kick Start on the spectrum and Excite Bike. Also had a track editor.

Disapointments of the show;

Dark Void, I really wanted to like this as a spiritual successor to crimson skies, but the gameplay felt weak and the visuals were uninspiring.

Dantes Inferno, with both GoW3 and Bayonnetta coming up, this may get lost in the crowd.

Star Trek MMO, still not sure what to make of this one, starship control seemed a little too fiddly. Graphically impressive though.

Overall, there was plenty to see and to play with, didn't manage to play on Assassins Creed 2, but as I've not played the first I didn't think I was missing much. Aliens vs. Predator, again didn't get to play as the area was too crowded.

Ta that has answered most of my questions.

Were the queues for the 18+ games long? Last year the queues for Gears 2 and COD were long and you were only allowed limited playtime.

How many God of War 3 stations did they have set up? Same for AvP and Heavy Rain. I think they are the only 18+ games I want to play, based on the list.

Also any SF4 cabinets on site?

I got a free ticket from Nvidia after they'd allegedly sold out (I have to attend a presentation on their 3D vision tech as a part of the deal I think, just as well, I would've gone anyway!). I'll be there in London on Saturday the 31st given any luck. Really looking forward to it. :)

Speaking of which, you might still be able to get one if you're lucky (no idea if they've run out or not):

The queues weren't that bad, the biggest were for Left 4 Dead 2 and AvP. God of War had 8 stations in total, alternating different parts of the demo.
