Right,

Bought the mother a cover for her iPhone, however i didnt want a run of the mill one and saw a designer one in the 02 shop.

It cost £30 and came with a free screen protector. It was plastic and just clipped on...

Right it was purchased Sunday from Blackpool town and i got home and gave it to her, she was thrilled. As she opened it up the free screen protector was missing. Not to worry we though as the case was really nice and its a 40 minute drive to Blackpool in the evening traffic and all the shops would have been shut too.

So today she had her iphone in her bag and the case has snapped making it no longer useable and it just falls off.

The receipt is long gone and i just wondered where i stand with returning the item???

I wouldnt be bother if it cost £10 but £30 for something thats lasted 3 days is terrible.

I have proof of payment on my bank statements etc.

Just take it back and explain the situation, even better get your mum to go down with you. Atleast then they will know it won't have been thrown about at raves or down town :p

It was the last one in stock and the salesman was an arse.

The box was scuffed and had some ripping on it, i asked if he had another one because i felt the packaging wasnt very presentable for a present. He replied "i didnt think you were buying the box"

I'd have tossed it at him and walked out tbh.

 Go above his head with this then, you may even get more than a replacement for a comment like that.

sadly, as someone who works in retail, what *will* happen, is they'll tell you it was damaged through neglegence and tell you they don't have to do anything.

You should be able to get around it telling them it's not fit for the purpose it was designed for, and out of goodwill, especially if you tell them how badly you were treated before, they might be able to help you out.

but sadly, that's probably not the way it'll pan out

fingers crossed for you though

i work for o2 mate and tbh im disgusted at how that **** treated you, however back on topic we tend to be pretty good about these things so you should hopefully get it, however as always it all depends on the shop, who the person your speaking to is and wether its a franchise store or not. Anyway best of luck mate :P fingers crossed

yup i work for o2 walk in the shop and tell him to either offer you a replacement of a refund , take a bank statement as proof of purchase.

if he doesnt listen tell him you will go above him and speak to bagnuts
he will know who your talking about ;)

Are you the jeans dude?

lol that was a blast from the past!

Back on topic, if you can show proof of purchase then they can't reasonably argue against giving you a replacement or refund.

However if their attitudes are all as bad as the salesmen they could argue that a bank statement isn't a proof of THAT purchase, only that you bought something for that amount on that day. Just read up on your consumer rights before going back, and above all be pleasant, you are far more likely to get it sorted quickly and easily then!

What a tool.

Most places will accept a credit card statement or even a bank statement as proof of purchase if it really comes down to it.

Conversation should then have followed :

"Oh, right. I'll tell you what else I'm buying...5 minutes with your manager or a tenner off for the state of the box. Which one sounds best to you?"

found the receipt, where do i stand now? The case was an Ed HArdy designer plastic one and just fell to bits :( Im gutted as it was really nice and my mum loved it but it was just brittle and cracked from being in her small bag.
